Title: Where does last weekend rank in all time great football weekends?
Post by: Townhallsavoy on December 01, 2010, 11:34:58 AM
1.  Texas A&M makes Texas feel like a little sister putting a cap on their miserable year on a night that should have been full of Thanks and Givings.

2.  The Saints win a thriller against the Dallas Cowboys with Jenkins chasing down a free running Roy Williams and stripping the ball from him.  Drew Brees then takes the team down for the winning score.

3.  Auburn comes back against Alabama in one of the greatest Iron Bowls of all time.

4.  Boise State loses to Nevada after having a 24-7 lead and giving the media a chance to proclaim Boise State the real #1 team in the nation...which was happening if you watched the 1st half of that game.

5.  LSU loses to Arkansas in a thriller in Little Rock.

6.  Miss ST/Miss, Ok. State and Oklahoma both thriller games.

1. Eh, ok, entertaining.

2. I could give a shit less.

3. Why is this listed #3?  HUGE!

4. I should really care why?  I mean beyond the fact that it was a pretty entertaining game.

5. I care a little more because it was the SEC.

6. Again, SEC, good games.  See #3 again.

What's funny about it is I paid very little attention to the rest of the football weekend.  Went to the FUS/UF game Saturday so I was on the road and just keeping an eye on the scores.  Didn't matter to me because after Friday, all I could do was cheese.

1.  I picked Tejas in my hopes for the Crown...so, no.

2.  Couldn't care less about the No Fun League if I tried.

3.  Took my son to his first Iron Bowl.  Struggled through the first half mumbling incomplete sentences.  At the half, he looks up at me and says "Daddy, if Auburn comes back and wins can I get a mohawk?"  I said "sure, no problem!"  Oops.  I haven't enjoyed a post game celebration any more than I did that night.

4.  Fell asleep after Boise scored late to go ahead, and figured they had won until I got my official TigersX text the next morning.  I think my exact words were "now Herbie can shut up."

5.  That was a fun game to watch, and became more enjoyable once I realized that the Arky win put the turdburglars at #4 in the West.

6.  Lost both of those picks too, but they were both fun to watch.

Speaking of FUS/UF...Florida has a ways to go.  Wow, that's not a good team at all and I see why Bama and USCe ran em'. Brantley is horrid and the only thing I'll say in his defense....and what may be a huge problem for this team...they have nothing, nada, zip, zilch at the receiver spot.  Burton and Demps and Rainey and the other QB are all fast and good athletes but I also see why they hate Addagio (sp?) as OC.  Pathetic.

They're not totally void of talent and yeah, Cam would keep them on the map.  But unless they have Cam coming in, I don't look for it to get better soon.

This past weekend should not have been very big for the tiggers. When you win in Glendale this weekend will be waaaaaaaay down the list.

IF..we get to and win in Glendale, I'll agree.  But right now, this win is always the biggest to me.  No other game like it.  Best case scenario would be for both teams to be top 2-3 when they play.  Things happen and they wind up rematching in the MNC game. Holy rivalry Batman.

#2 hurt....because we were not expected to win, had the game in hand then gave it away. Congrats to the Saints though.

Seriously.  That dang Boise State let that game slip right out of their hands.

The cowboys gave that game away like alabama gave the Iron Bowl away. I am a big Cowboy fan but I think in BOTH situations...the defense made plays and forced the turnovers instead of people just giving the game away...

Please to be noticing how nice I have been to you.  You can thank the Auburn win for my benevolence towards your loser Cowgirls this week...

Except the Boys literally had that game in hand, sitting on a lead with nothing but a couple of mins of clock to run out. Huge completion deep in Saints territory, then the dummy drops it. Auburn's comeback seemed a little more systematic than the Saints.

You realize that you sound just as dumb as the bama fans that say the same thing about Ingram right?

Damn, I forgot I was conversing with King Semantics. The point flew right over your head. When bammer is driving down the field sitting on a lead in the closing mins only needing to burn clock for the win, and then give the ball away - be it a fumble, strip, whatever - then you can compare the games. Point was, these games and the fashion they were won were totally different.

The Cowboys were "sitting on a lead" up by only 4 facing a 3 and 6 in their own territory with 3:30 on the clock with the Saints having 1 timeout and a 2 minute warning to help?

I see your point, but the fact remains that the Cowboys still needed a first down and they didn't get it. The Saints FORCED a turn over which cost the Cowboys the game. Likewise, Alabama needed to put more points on the board and keep momentum, however, Auburn FORCED a turn over that changed the out come of the game. Sure it didn't happen in the 4th quarter, but I don't think that the Cowboys GAVE the game to the Saints just like I don't think Alabama GAVE the game to Auburn.

I just don't think you can have it both ways...

Here's what makes that Roy Williams fumble so funny...

He interviewed on local sports that he was transferring the ball from his right to his left hand because when he goes into the endzone, he always holds up the "hook 'em horns!" sign... and that transfer was what made him fumble...

                                                                               :haha:

And that makes it even more deliciously awesome to me!!!

One of the Cowgirl fans I worked with told me that story - from a local sports radio show.

Would not surprise me a bit.

And watch the video - he does change hands.

No way he would say that I don't think. And also, I really don't think he ever saw the guy on the outside. It looked to me that he was switching hands to get it away from the one defender he did see.
