Title: Titz was right....

in his preseason prognostications - in picking Arkansas and Auburn to be the cream of the crop in the SEC. At the end of the regular season, it appears they are 1 and 2 in the power rankings. Kudos Titz. I will admit I didnt see either happening the way they did.

http://espn.go.com/blog/ncfnation/post/_/id/34155/sec-power-rankings-week-14 (http://espn.go.com/blog/ncfnation/post/_/id/34155/sec-power-rankings-week-14)
Quote
With only the SEC championship game remaining before the bowl games, here’s a look at this week’s SEC Power Rankings:

1. Auburn: The Tigers (12-0, 8-0) completed a perfect regular season with their greatest comeback in school history, rallying from a 24-0 deficit to win 28-27 at Alabama on Friday. Gene Chizik’s club also went to No. 1 in this week’s BCS standings and deservedly so. They’re the only team in the country with five wins over teams currently ranked in the Top 25 of the BCS standings.

2. Arkansas: What a finish to the season for Bobby Petrino and the Hogs. They took care of LSU 31-23 on Saturday in Little Rock to win their sixth straight game. Arkansas (10-2, 6-2) will now turn into big Auburn fans. If the Tigers can win Saturday in the SEC championship game, the Hogs will play in their first BCS bowl game in school history. They’ve averaged 42.5 points during their six-game winning streak.

and all indication Arkansas will play the Buckeyes. That would make for a great match up. Interesting also that Mallet started out as a Wolverine. I am sure he would love to get a win against Ohio St.

Congrats, Alabama. 5th best in the SEC. You remain in the top half of the overall SEC. You have Mississippi and pretty much the entire East to thank for that.

Thanks to only one East team being worth a damn, you'll stumble into the Capital One bowl.

My early gut feeling on that one says that Mallet will torch those SEC Wannabees.

Yes sir, and I hope OSU wears those butt ugly retro unis too. One thing though, I was under the impression that the winner of the ACC usually plays in the Sugar Bowl.

Doubtful, Rose Bowl has to take them.  What I am hoping for is that WVU is somehow able to win the Big Least causing the Orange Bowl to take them vs Virgina Tech.  That would leave the Fiesta with Oklahoma/ Nebraska vs. Stanford.  Which makes my Fiesta Bowl tickets go up in price.

If Auburn beats South Carolina....

1. Auburn 13-0 (9-0)
2. Arkansas 10-2 (6-2)
3. LSU 10-2 (6-2)
4. Alabama 9-3 (5-3)
5. South Carolina 9-4 (5-4)
6. Mississippi State 8-4 (4-4)
7. Florida 7-5 (4-4)
8. Georgia 6-6 (3-5)
9. Tennessee 6-6 (3-5)
10. Kentucky 6-6 (2-6)

I see Bama going to the cotton if Auburn wins.  Outback if South Carolina wins.

This is just my opinion- As I have only seen yawl play twice. You a have a load of talent on the sidelines.

You just don’t seem to have much of a team. I really can’t put my finger on it.

This past Saturday you had the better players.
We had the better team.

I don't know if I agree with that statement.

Token your thoughts, but my assessment pre and post game would be about as follows:

QB: Advantage- Auburn  (nothing else to say here)
RB: Advantage - Bama (If you are talking RB vs RB, If you throw Cam in here I think the Advantage is ours)
WR: Advantage - Slight edge Bama (but I think this is close, Julio puts you over the edge)
OL: Advantage - Auburn (Senior, Senior, Senior, and Senior)

On the defensive side:
DL: Advantage - Auburn (at the beginning of the year I would have said bama)
LB: Advantage - Push
CB: Advantage - Bama

I really don't think bama has any better players/athletes than we do. Sure some are better than others, but he we have some better than theirs.

Yes, this is correct.

Outback or Cotton.

Either way, what I meant was being 4th in the West would usually get you Chick-Fil-A or worse.

They are super talented but young and inexperienced. They lost a lot of guys from last year's team and some of the guys playing now on their D are green. They will be good next year again on D. Games like the Iron Bowl help down the road for young players.

I was talking as an overall group. Taking into account experience. We have a lot of studs. They are just young in a lot of areas.

And the edge is just slight.

This is my honest to god opinion. Maybe it is looked at through O&B glasses, but this is what I truly feel:

Out of 10 games, the 2010 Auburn team would beat the 2010 Alabama team at least 7 times...if not 8.

I think Auburn has a far better team over all AND they match up so well against Alabama. To beat Alabama this year, you stop the running game and you put pressure on McElroy. Auburn can do both of those very well. I honestly think that the 1st quarter of the Iron Bowl this year was pure emotion on Alabama's part. Take game plans or coaching or whatever you want, and throw those the fuck out the window. It had nothing to do with the pure shit stomping that Alabama gave Auburn in the first quarter. Alabama just came out so charged up, that they physically man handled Auburn in every facet of the game. Hell, our KO coverage team is usually fucking nails, and they didn't play for shit the first kick off. After the emotion had settled down, I think you saw what Auburn has done to people all year. Played good up front both offensively and defensively, scored some points, and didn't make too many mistakes.

Hell, you could say almost the EXACT same thing about the 2 teams last year with their rolls reversed...

Agreed, but that's been the problem all year.  The only answer I have is a lack of leadership.  Only having 8 Seniors could also be a problem.  Bama will lose a few juniors to the draft, but overall, I think they'll be in serious BCS contention for at least the next 2 years.

The only one I would disagree with is linebackers.  The main component is in the trenches.  The bottom line is, Auburn was more physical than Bama.  It didn't help that Barret Jones was out leaving us with 2 freshmen on the right side of the line, but that's football.

I'll say it again, having only 8 seniors took more of a toll on this season that I thought it would.  BUT, if 9-3 is a down year, I'll take it every time.

I did think the roles would be reversed. Yall are having the season that I thought would be ours.
We've had a great season no matter what else happens. I'm proud of the way our team has stepped up after losing our leading rusher and leading receiver from last year. What could have been, ; . (A few will get this.)
I think an Auburn/Arkansas rematch would be a good show for the final football game of the year. I know yall are better than you were back then, but we are, too. I'm proud of what our team has evolved to.
We're rooting for yall to win yall's next 2 games, yall can root for us to win our next one. SEC.

Yall had a damn good run. Auburn has had a damn good season. I just don't see any team dominating the SEC West. If you stay at the top for 2 years like Bama did, good job. I think that about the best you will see for a while.
3 teams from the SECW in the top 10 nationally? Tuff. 5 in the top 25? Amazing.

But with all the hype Alabama had going into the season 9-3 seems like a down year. But (like you said) when you have five teams in the west in the top 25 someone has got to lose.
