Title: "Take the money and run" & "Son of a preacher man" being played at the IB...
Post by: The Prowler on November 29, 2010, 05:52:34 AM
"Take the money and run" at around the 9:50 mark then followed by "Son of a preacher man".

(BTW, these songs where okayed by the University)

FUCKING GARBAGE....and you bammers wonder why everyone outside the State hates your arrogant asses...Arrogance and Ignorance is a very, very bad combination.  Which makes this win so fucking much sweeter.

Everyone's leaving out the third song in that Medley.

Livin' On A Prayer.

Get it?  :sneer:

Not really that...I didn't have a problem with it, until I heard the bammer fanbase laughing at the song and in turn laughing at Cam Newton.  That's when I started having a huge problem with it, fans doing it because of the rivalry is one thing, but having the songs okayed by the University...that's a totally different thing.

It shows the lack of class that entire University and inbred fanbase has.

From a Rivals poster regarding the songs. I don't know this guy nor know if he is the least bit credible. He could be completely full of shit, however, I thought it was at least interesting...

Talked to a former bammer player...Yesterday at church. He is a good guy as most ex-players are. Anyway, he was at the game and was talking to the bammer coaches after the game. I mentioned them playing "son of a preacher man". He said it was stupid and backfired on them. I thought he meant the game and he said no, the recruits. I said, huh? He said all the black recruits got pissed and thought it was racist. He said a couple of asst had to go calm them down. Said two recruits actually left the game. He said that Satan jumped all over Mal Moore. Interesting to say the least.

If that's what it takes for inbred pieces of shit, like yourself, to understand that your University , not just the fanbase, the entire fucking University is fucking classless.  Your fanbase started ALL of this shit, to ruin a college kid's life along with his father's.  Then you're going to mock and laugh at him during warmups....I take back what I said about McElroy, when I said that I hated seeing him like that and hoping that he was ok.  I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT, I was yelling BOOM MUTHA FUCKA!!!! everytime CBS would show a replay.

Lmao, McElroy had better be glad that Rhodes Scholar test wasn't on Sat. because he would've been laughed out of there

Prowler. Seriously. You ARE, by your own definiton, a Bammer. When Iron Tiger was spreading his bullshit, you were first in line to get your running material. IF you were a Bama fan, you'd be singing "take the money and run" to the top of your lungs while wearing your "sCam Newton" t-shirt all the way to Birmingham for your $15 dollar meeting with Redfish.

Don't get me wrong - i have done my share of smack talking.  But only to those bammers who have teed up for it - and certainly not to prowleresque levels...

Oh well, you can't selectively breed your fanbase or else there would only be twelve bammer fans in the entire world...

I cannot believe I am about to say this, but.....

I think y'all are missing Prowlers point, or perhaps I am. However, I believe the point he was trying to get across was that for the fanbase to do it is one thing.  I.e. Throwing the money, whatever.

However playing the songs over the PA system in his mind constitutes a lack of class by the University. I do agree with that point.  It doesn't surprise me, nor do I care, but I agree.

UA staffer terminated over song choice

TUSCALOOSA | The University of Alabama terminated an employee Monday who played unauthorized music over the Bryant-Denny Stadium public address system prior to Friday's Iron Bowl.

The staffer was part-time, according to UA Public Relations Director Debbie Lane, but has not been named by the university. Two of the pre-game song choices were "Take the Money and Run," by The Steve Miller Band, and "Son of Preacher Man", recorded by Dusty Springfield in 1968 and later by recording legend Aretha Franklin.

The song choices were apparently directed at Auburn quarterback Cam Newton, whose father is a reverend and is embroiled in a recruiting scandal amid reports that he sought payment during his son's recruitment in violation of NCAA rules.

"Our processes require that all music and videos played in the stadium prior to and during every game be carefully scripted and approved by a senior administrator in the Athletics Department," Lane wrote in an e-mail. "The former staff member deviated from the script that had been approved for the game with Auburn, and the University took steps to immediately terminate his contract."

Newton was recruited heavily by Mississippi State before signing with the Tigers. It has been his recruitment by the Bulldogs that has come under scrutiny, according to reports, by both the NCAA and FBI. No link between Newton's father, Cecil, and improper benefits from an Auburn representative has been established to date.

"The University of Alabama takes great pride in our football team’s long-standing tradition of playing the game with dignity and class, and showing respect for players and coaches of opposing teams," Lane added. "We are disappointed when the actions of any staff member undermine our deeply held values and expectations."

Auburn spokesperson Kirk Sampson declined to comment on the matter.

Yup...concerned because The Prowler (King of The Classless, anointed by a few folks on TigersX), realized that this was pretty damn classless.  So, with him being so classless himself he's able to spot other classless happenings and for him to say that they're being classless, again coming from him, speaks volumes of just how classless it actually is.

THIS.

Like they just let any pimple-faced (think Birmingham) intern run the sound system at Bryant Denny Stadium during the Iron Bowl, to play whatever the fuck they want without anyone else knowing anything about it. What if he wanted to play "Fuck The Police", or some GG Allin?

Back on topic:

I am astounded at the rednecks that try to compare this to Tuberville holding up six fingers.

Hey dumbshits, one is a coach acknowledging his team's accomplishments over the Alabama team. Call me a homer, but I can't for the life of me see how that is remotely comparable to the athletic department deliberately playing songs over the loudspeaker to mock a specific kid on the Auburn team over a bullshit allegation to begin with.

As Scarbinsky said in his article today, if you're looking for an equivalent, it would be Auburn playing Jailhouse Rock last year for Ingram's dad. That would have bammers and the national media completely shitting their pants over our lack of class. But that wouldn't happen at Auburn.

Also, I've heard several bammers, in comparison to this, and even before this became a subject of conversation, say that Auburn playing Rammer Jammer is the lowest of the low. Are you serious? I can't even get into the mind of a bammer that thinks this way, no matter how hard I try. It's ok for you to have an organized cheer that exclaims you "Just beat the hell outta" Georgia State, and every other opponent you play, but if Auburn satirically gives you a taste of your own medicine, that is classless? I stand amazed.

Nevermind the fact that it was being talked about on bammOnLine last Tues or Wed.  They knew those songs where going to be played, the Ath Dept knew those songs where going to be played, the camera man knee those songs where going to be played (hence them showing Cam while the songs where being played).

If SPuat had won, Daniel Moore would be getting the canvas prepped to paint "Take The Money & Run".

TUSCALOOSA | The part-time disc jockey who was fired by the University of Alabama on Monday for playing provocative songs over the public address system at Bryant-Denny Stadium before kickoff of the Iron Bowl last week wasn't alone on the prank — a higher-ranking, full-time staffer was in on the planning and there in the control booth, but still has his job.
Related Links:

Jason Brant, director of Crimson Tide Productions, which oversees elements of game-day presentation at University of Alabama football games, participated in selecting the songs — “Son of a Preacher Man” and “Take the Money and Run” — and was in the control room while they were played, The Tuscaloosa News has learned.

Two people involved in UA's investigation of the incident said Brant, who was hired in July as director of Crimson Tide Productions, gave approval for the songs to be played.

“I don't really want to comment on that,” Brant said when reached by telephone at his UA office. “Nothing to say.”

Jason Adlman, a 2008 UA graduate who has worked as an area disc jockey, was fired over the playing of the songs, which were aimed at Auburn quarterback Cam Newton. Newton, the front-runner for the Heisman Trophy, has been the subject of reports that allege his father, a minister, solicited payment during his son's recruitment in violation of NCAA rules.

“No comment,” Adlman said when contacted by The Tuscaloosa News.

Brant's supervisor, Milton Overstreet, did not respond to messages. Overstreet, the senior associate athletics director for technology advancement, has final approval of songs to be played at UA football games. The songs were not part of the approved script for the game, according to UA.

Adlman, who was not named by UA, “deviated from the script that had been approved for the game with Auburn, and the University took steps to immediately terminate his contract,” UA Public Relations Director Debbie Lane said Monday in an e-mail.

Another UA employee, Amy Eifler, the manager of the Production House at the Center for Public Television and Radio, was also involved and worked with Brant to plan the playing of the songs before the game, according to two people involved UA's investigation of the event. Eifler could not be reached for comment.

Alabama officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Brant's involvement.

Brant worked for Daktronics, a company that sells and services electronic scoreboard equipment, as a big-screen producer before being hired by Alabama, according to a UA press release announcing his hiring. UA contracts with Daktronics for scoreboard and video screens in Bryant-Denny Stadium and Coleman Coliseum. Brant also worked previously for the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League.

The Southeastern Conference reacted to the announcemnt of the firing of Adlman in a e-mail statement from spokesman Charles Bloom: “The playing of the songs is not something we would condone and (the SEC) would be pleased that Alabama officials have taken this position.” The SEC had no role in the matter, Bloom said.

“The University of Alabama takes great pride in our football team's long-standing tradition of playing the game with dignity and class, and showing respect for players and coaches of opposing teams,” Lane said in her e-mail statement. “We are disappointed when the actions of any staff member undermind our deeply held values and expectations.”

Adlman posted “looks like I made the news yesterday” Saturday on his Twitter account, linking a report about the playing of the songs. He locked his account Tuesday.

What's funny was seeing all of the media people patting the University on the back and saying how great it was for then to take such a strong stance against the one "part-time" employee who did this horrible deed.  Lmao, the egg is all over their faces now, courtesy of the classless University.
