He said he wants to tell the team important information before they read about it in the papers.
Malzahn to Ole Miss?
If I thought Trooper or Luper or Grimes could call the plays like Gus does, I wouldn't mind him getting a bigger gig before the bowl game.
I'm just not sure they can handle the responsibilty.

I question the timing of that.
Leaving before the MNC to go to a bottomfeeder program ?
No way. If this move is to be made, it would be after the season.

I hope we. Pay to keep him.
-
Like the CNS comment in another thread....this is about an "8 steps down" move.
-

It would be something to see Gus take Nutt's job. If nothing else to personally get to fire any of the staff that might remain.
Who knows what is gonna happen. They may give Nutt a good bailout to resign. Nutt may go to Miami or Colorado. I want him to stay at Ole Miss. A win for both of our teams for the next few years.
I know Gus is happy with his present job, but a chance to be a HC in the SEC would be hard to turn down.

Ok...you are talking HC. I was thinking Nutt was hiring him as an OC. Sounded a little bizarre considering they hate each other but hey. Rumors make the innerweb gore boards magic.

Is it April 1st already ?

Of all the openings that make me nervous...Ole Miss would be the one. I think Malzahn would go to Ole Miss in a second...

The Stoops boys have dibs on Miami if only by friendship according to TSN, most likely Mike. As for Gus, I will reserve comment on his future when he gives a reply to a real offer. He can do better than middle of the road ACC money if he wants. But I just think he's a different kind of dude and isn't in any hurry to act which is counter to his nature and the pace of his offense. I could be wrong.

He would, and should...if it comes open. Nutt isn't calling a meeting to say he's been fired, o. He ain't quitting, unless he's been offered another job..a better job, which I doubt. May be proved wrong on one or the other, but this type of news can rarely be kept under wraps long enough to have a player meeting like this.
Malzahn is eventually moving up...I suspect though, that he'd like to get a ring, or at least play for them (both SEC and BCS) In any event, I think he stays through the bowl game.

No doubt he stays through the end if we play for the championship...I am just saying, he will leave in a heartbeat if a team like Ole Miss opened up.
I am not sure about Miami. He has kids growing up that he will think about. It will have to be somewhere nice (and southern) for him to raise his kids.
I also don't think he takes a mid-major job at this point. I think he likes Auburn enough that he will wait for the perfect opportunity and he would go for it.
-
Nutt is going to announce one of the following to his team:
1) He's firing some staff (non-MSM) to save his own ass; or
2) He's taking the Vandy job.

I agree with most of that. Still not quite sure he'd turn down Miami. You can buy some really nice surroundings and private schools on a 7 figure salary...and the wife would be easy to convince. Not to mention the fact that he made a huge jump "leaving home" to go to the college ranks. I don't know him or his family, but have to think they're all on board with what it takes to be a "coach's wife and family". But you could be right too. Patrick Nix is the most "non Miami" type I can imagine, in so many ways, and he went there to coach.
I think the right mid major could lure him (like a Boise, TCU, Utah...which I consider mid major), but not just any job. I think he probably thinks he's earned a shot at a program where he has a chance to win...not just the first job that comes along.

Rader under the bus amidst a bunch of boohoos and crocodile tears. He's gonna kick Masoli off the team for violating an unspecified rule, too.

I'm guessing Dave Rader (OC) and Tyrone Nix (DC) are both gone.

That, or something like it, and since they don't have a bowl game, and thus no more practices...he may be having a come to Jesus about getting in trouble during the holidays and such.
-

If he cans Nix, his brother is probably gone too. The Nix boys are their 2 best recruiters in the state of Mississippi.

Interestingly enough, I played football with Derrik. He administered one of the hardest hits of my life in the 3 hole during my sophomore year. It's a damn shame that he had kidney problems. He was one hell of a running back.

Did he at least give you a reach around? A kiss? Anything?

He used my clavicle/neck/chin to plant his foot as he cut back on his way the end zone. Afterward, told me to keep my rookie ass out of his 3 hole.

Tyrone Nix is a really, really good DC (I remember his Southern Miss defenses were always stout) and his brother is a heck of a recruiter.

Yes, but they sucked this year, and that wipes out all he's ever done. He forgot how to coach, like Richt, Tuberville, and Meyer.

Sure did. Him too, he sucks.

He might've been a Big Fish in a little pond coaching at USM, now he's in the Ocean against the Sharks of the SEC.
As for Coach Muschamp, he doesn't belong in that same category with Nix.

That's what they said about Meyer and Malzahn too.

Nutt to Colorado per Holy Turf.

That's what they said about Meyer and Malzahn too.
Meyer is now without his four bodyguards (Coach Mullens, Coach Strong, Tebow & Spikes)
Coach Malzahn had Payton Hillis, Darren McFadden, Felix Jones & Shawn Andrews to help him transition from HS to the Ocean (example, Coach Borges with AU's backfield).
Last year Malzahn had a Veteran OL & RB....with a surprise in Chris Todd and Darvin Adams.
This year, he has the same veteran OL (sans the RT) & WRs....with a QB that's a once in a coaches lifetime type of player.
So, the moral of my statements is, to be successful in the Elite Conferences, you'd better have Stud Athletes that will buy into the system and gel with one another along with their position coaches underneath you.

Wait...who is Coach Nutt's Agent??? Sounds like something Jimmy Sexton would be doing.

Chris Todd '08 -- 86-156 903yds 55.1% 5 td 6 int 106.63 rating
Chris Todd '09 -- 198-328 2612yds 60.4% 22 td 6 int 145.73 rating
You expect me to believe the QB fairy sprinkled some dust on Todd between '08 and '09 and he just suddenly figured out how to be a quarterback? And the only reason Malzhan had success in '09 is because Todd was a surprise?
-

Yeah...you do realize that Dr. Andrews did perform surgery on Chris Todd's shoulder, between the '08-'09 season. So, yeah I'd say Chris Todd was a pretty fuckin' big surprise. What part of "the QB was a surprise" didn't you understand? Given the two seasonal stats that you posted...that alone should tell you that it was a surprise that he performed as well as he did. Remember the sky is falling group that said, I'm paraphrasing here, "if Chris Fucking Todd is our starting QB, we'll be staring at Doug Barfield years to come...we're doomed." So yeah, again, I'd say he was a pretty fucking big surprise.

Good point. Malzhan isn't worth a fuck. His coaching success is essentially the product of a miracle surgery, and a Heisman candidate.

Not saying that, dipshit. I was just pointing out that to be successful...as a Coordinator in the "Ocean full of Sharks" Conferences, you'd better have some Studs at key positions and they must gel together along with their positional coaches. To be a successful HC in the "Ocean" Conferences, you'd better have really good to great Coordinators, position coaches & some stud talent that must gel together along with their position coaches. It also helps if you have strong upperclassmen leadership, that'll get you through the tough games....

Are you hearing this, Miami, Colorado, Vandy and West Virginia? Nothing to see here folks, keep moving.
