Finebaum just said that the Charles Bloom information yesterday was directly from Mike Slive.
He's insinuating that Slive is not happy and trying to determine what to do about Dan Mullen and/or Miss State coaches pushing this story into the media.

I've got a few suggestions.
-
I can think of several people on just this board alone that would be happy to handle this for the Commish.
-
Is this Cecil Hurt on right now?
He just said he thinks the SEC is about to squash this in order to keep everyone off of probation. The reason why Bloom gave that little bit of information is to make the ESPN stories lose credibility and thus making this story start to go away.
He "hopes" the SEC wouldn't do this, but Finebaum just asked if the SEC would do this because of Auburn's status.
-
Interesting interview with Fitzsimmons being played on Finebaum now.
Bond Rogers saying he saw his name coming across the ticker about all these quotes he allegedly said and he's in disbelief of what he was seeing.

It's Kenny Rogers not Bond.
From this interview, I really like the guy. We'll see what Finebaum is planning on doing with this because supposedly his story has changed.
-
Motherfucker. Fucking hell.
I hate this asshole.
All that bullshit I said about liking the guy? Not happening.
Fuck him.

Haha, I was about to say the thing.
WTF is with this guy? Complete 180 on his story.
-
Complete 180 and now saying that Cam Newton's father was asking for money.
Not over the phone. Not through email. Not through text message.
It was a conversation they had after a football game in private.
Of course, no knowledge if Miss State wanted to pay up.
So two things to discuss:
1. Did he change his story to the truth so that he doesn't get in trouble later?
2. Does switching his story around ruin his credibility thus hurting another one of ESPN and Co.'s sources?
-
Curiously (not really) ESPN.com has just posted his most recent interview only, which is linked to the Auburn clubhouse page...

Or pay him enough to change his life.
Something is odd about this. I mean, no shit, right?
A friend of mine heard the whole interview. Ian tried his hardest to get him to implicate or mention AU. Quote from Kenny - "I really have no idea why Cam would go to Auburn."
I mean, of course. MSU was offerring the big bucks. What the hell did Auburn have that made him want to go there?

Guthries?

Lots of questions -
Who's paying Rogers's legal fees since he is now having attorneys present at every interview?
If Rogers is telling the truth and money was discussed between MSU recruiters and Cecil Newton and it wasn't reported immediately, who's really in violation of NCAA rules right now?
Where is the connection between Cam Newton's allegations and Auburn?
Why is there no LOI in Auburn?
Besides affecting public opinion, what does all of this accomplish in terms of what happens on the field in college football?
-
Also -
Kenny Rogers says Cecil Newton and Kenny Rogers discussed what it would take to get Cam to MSU in a personal conversation with MSU recruiters. This conversation took place after a game in a private room.
John Bond says two people between Cecil Newton and MSU was communicating that Cam Newton would cost a certain amount of money to get him to sign with MSU.
Joe Schad says "recruiters" which have been assumed to be MSU coaches say that Cecil Newton phoned MSU and asked for more than a scholarship.
None of them add up.
-
Kenny Rogers apparently just said in a radio interview that Cecil Newton asked for 180k.
-
Kenny Rogers apparently just said in a radio interview that Cecil Newton asked for 180k.
Why would he do that when "Several other schools have already offered $200K"? And is Cecil who Kenny was referring to as the "Coward of the County"?
-
correct me if I am wrong.........but this latest round broke with:
Paul Finebaum
Cecil Hurt
Ian Fitzsimmons
BULLpoop!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Connect the dots on those three!
The only known fact to come out of this is that we now have TWO former MSU players on record as lying little pieces of shit.

LUUUUUUUUCCCYYYYYY......Choo gots some splainin' to dooooo....

If I remember correctly, Rogers also said that Cecil went to those coaches directly and Rogers was just the #rd party and doesn't even know if Cecil asked for money in the hotel room. Why would a 3rd party be there that had nothing to do with it and nothing to gain. Not to mention, apparently Cecil was the one that supposedly introduced Rogers to this coaching staff.
4 different stories by 3 different people.

Who the hell is Bill Bell?
-
Oh ok.
Bill Bell is a booster. He just so happened to go on vacation to Costa Rica last Friday.

Bill Bell:
As posted from Killerfrogs (How the fuck TCU got involved I don't know)
Cam Newton bribe recording
Just called and got details. Bill in Destin, Florida is MissSt donor and has phone recording of Cam Newtons dad saying Auburn agreed to pay $200k but he would go to Miss for only $180. Very detailed conversation about method of payment and 3 installments of $60, first before signing and second on signing. Said he gave tape to NCAA last week after story started breaking. Already had death threats from Auburn fans.
It will be interesting to see how/if this develops. The SEC is pretty good about hiding this kind of stuff

He also played at MSU

I call complete bullshit on that....

I call complete bullshit on that....
I do as well.
But it's plausible. I mean, Rogers drops this Bill Bell name today as if Bill Bell was the one going to pay Cam to get him to MSU.
-
What I can't figure out was why was Rogers ever involved.
-Cam was already being recruited by MSU and why use Rogers as the intermediary for money, he doesn't even know any of the coaches. This makes no sense.

Would this not also put MSU in violation also? Also, if NCAA had this in hand, would not Cam be ruled ineligible to play immediately?
-

Cecil and Kenny had a relationship when Cam was looking for a junior college. Kenny owns a company that helps kids transferring find the best school for their interests.
Kenny says that Cecil told Kenny that "This time, it's not going to be free."
So Cecil and Kenny discussed this with two coaches, and according to MSU, they immediately dropped the recruitment of Cam Newton.
What just hit me while typing this is that Kenny claims they pitched the offer to MSU on November 27th/28th. But they didn't report it until January when Cam signed with Auburn.
Looks like MSU was the one trying to buy Cam Newton. It would explain why there's no LOI in Auburn unless Auburn is hiding it.
-
Also, MSU still recruited him after the fact.
-
I still think that at the end of the day, MSU is the one in a world of shit.
That speculation about Mullen to Dallas may not be farfetched after all. (see: Carroll, Pete)
I agree that if there was a flat out no question tape recording as discussed, the NCAA would have declared Cam ineligible as soon as they listened to it.
-
Is it possible that Cecil Newton went behind Cam Newton's back and did all of this?
Could it be possible that the NCAA and/or the SEC acted in defense of Cam Newton? Perhaps Cam went to the SEC or NCAA himself and claimed to have no control over his father's actions? So they let him off hoping this story would go away, and Miss State is pushing the info to the media?
Just being a homer and thinking out loud.
-
This is the first time in this entire saga where I'm starting to feel uneasy now....
-
But again... AT WORST... there were discussions with MSU by Rev. Newton.
No money changed hands.
Cam did not go to MSU.
Jacobs and Chiz and whomever else are correct when they say that Cam is ELIGIBLE TO PLAY AT AUBURN. Unless there is proof that someone at Auburn paid for Cam, there is NO ISSUE OF ELIGIBILITY. The NCAA statement says that the university has to suspend an athlete - and Auburn has no grounds to suspend Cam for something THAT DID NOT HAPPEN AT AUBURN.
The NCAA rule says "solicitation by an athlete or someone ACTING ON BEHALF OF THE ATHLETE" - so prove Cam knew.
And another thing - with Kenny Rogers' past, if it comes down to a he said/he said with Rev Newton, who do you believe?
-

That's about as reliable a source as Kenny Rogers. Hmmm, TCU is 3rd in the BCS do they want to go to Glendale?
Ya'll need to get a life and quit commenting on this bull shit. Post something of factual importance. This is exactly why this shit is out there to cause a stir up. Reading this board for the last week has been the worst soap opera I have ever seen. It reminds me of a bunch of crying BAMS.
-
John Bond, the former Mississippi State quarterback and teammate of Rogers who told ESPN.com last week that a man seeking money to sign Cam Newton had approached him, told ESPN.com on Thursday: "My story hasn't changed. I absolutely talked with Kenny Rogers, and there are phone records that will show that." Bond said he's scheduled to meet with the FBI on Tuesday and plans to turn over his phone records and anything else they ask for at that point. He said the FBI reached out to his attorney earlier this week wanting to talk with him about the Newton situation, in particular if kids were being shopped out to colleges. That meeting was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but was postponed by the FBI until next Tuesday.
"Until I speak with the FBI, I'd prefer not to say much more," Bond said.
Then ESPN is lying once again.
-
This is the first time in this entire saga where I'm starting to feel uneasy now....
Why? I am starting to feel more and more like this is complete bullshit. There are too many different stories for this shit to be true...
-
This is the first time in this entire saga where I'm starting to feel uneasy now....
It's another allegation that Cecil was shopping Cam. Like the one Schad supposedly had.
Bill Bell is an MSU booster.
Now Rogers heard Cecil ask for the money directly, but had to go looking for a money man for him?
NOW Bond finally says "I talked DIRECTLY to Rogers."
Rogers also says No Contact with Auburn, and doesn't know if Auburn paid.
BTW, Kenny Rogers is good friends with Ian Fitzsimmons.
Kenny Rogers lied last week, now "tells the truth" because the FBI is involved, and the phone records are going to show the deal. But no allegation that Cam's dad made any calls, only that he "overheard" him ask the coaches but felt like he had to help get the money. MSU didn't pay, but continued to recruit him through the process.
I'm uneasy, but MSU seems to have some problems coming too.
-

I still don't see why people are NOW uneasy. If you were going to run with a story, why continuously change it? That is what is happening here. This is the same allegation, with a different twist. There is nothing new here. Why is everyone worried about this bullshit?
-
The story will get straighter with the Feds holding prison time over peoples heads now. If there were some lawyers on this forum they could probably explain how the Fed investigates and punishes versus when the NCAA investigates and punishes.
-

I agree, except. The NCAA isn't a criminal court. And the FBI can find probable cause in corroborating statements.
2 issues here, separate. One is Cam's eligibility, and the second is whether Auburn paid.
I don't think Auburn was stupid enough to have paid money knowing the SEC and NCAA were already involved because of the MSU report. But, the NCAA could declare Cam ineligible based on corroborating statements.

What has given you ANY indication that Auburn may have paid? Hell, Rogers himself says that after the meeting with MSU that he didn't talk to Cecil. Also, he said he had no dealings with Auburn. You think that now Cecil went directly to Auburn? Why? Where has this even been insinuated?

Re read...no inclination...was making a statement "IF, by some stretch, it ever came out...".
I firmly believe Auburn is in the clear regardless of Cam's status.

There's no difference...they have an NCAA prison. It's called being a bammer, you should know.

Can anyone verify that Bond saying "Auburn is in the clear" on Finebaum; also in the Jackson Clarion-Ledger Bond was quoted this: "This has nothing to do with Auburn. Absolutely nothing to do with Auburn."
-
John Bond, Kenny Rogers, Jody Wright and Bill Bell (of which I think chickened out thats why he is in Costa Rica); the evil conspirators. Just my opinion. Bond and Rogers are the only two individuals that have been in the media. Rogers mentions Bell, being the first time, as the one having this so called tape. Another side to this though, is Rogers has caught wind of this tape business and just using it to blanket himself. Bond has been in the news in Miss. as of tonight saying this has nothing to do with Auburn, only today as anyone actually implicated Auburn and that was Rogers.
Then there is the idea of Bond and Bell being boosters, and Rogers the "agent" got themselves in some shit; Cecil having audio of these guys offering money. Both coaching staffs working with the NCAA with MSU putting distance with themselves and these boosters.
Jody Wright, he is the guy I keep hearing as the guy that gave the info on the academic stuff. If I am correct, he is currently an assistant at bama. Although he is an assistant there, I do not think bama is behind this.
Then there is the bad part, Cecil may have known and was a part of this. If Cam knew nothing, Auburn could possibly have to vacate some wins or Cam lose eligibility. The one thing that is a positive is that the consensus says NCAA has known all of this and yet has not deemed Cam ineligible. This is what was told to us to pay attention in the very beginning. Somewhere in here it seems that MSU was the possible victim of bribery and used the Newtons as the cash prize.

Attorney adds perspective to how Rogers’ claims could impact Auburn
Posted on November 11, 2010 by ">Jay G. Tate
Josh Moon, fierce ally of the HABOTN, recently spoke with Montgomery attorney Donald Jackson.
Jackson specializes in NCAA issues.
Here’s what he had to say about what’s happening:
On if solicitation of improper benefits is a violation in and of itself: “I don’t agree with that at all because it creates a ton of problems. How do you legislate every time a kid or someone representing a kid asks for an improper benefit? It happens every day, all the time. It doesn’t always rise to this level, but it’s still a solicitation for an improper benefit. Asking for something for free — clothing or food or what have you — is a solicitation as well. Are you going to penalize schools and players and for every one of those instances?â€
“I can’t think of a single case in which the NCAA has even attempted to penalize a school or individual for solicitation of an extra benefit. The solicitation and the circumstances surrounding it are often used as circumstantial evidence to prove that a violation involving extra benefits occurred — but not the solicitation itself.â€
On if he would advise Auburn to sit Newton*: “No, because it’s obvious that this stuff was known by the NCAA and the SEC, and at some point, those two made a determination about Kenny Rogers’ credibility. Because they cleared Cam Newton to play. Believe me, kids have been sat down by the NCAA for a whole lot less than what was alleged here. So, I don’t have a doubt that at some point they came to a decision regarding Rogers and they informed Auburn of that decision.â€
* — Jackson is not involved with this case.

Just another media/forum deal attached to the Mont. Advertiser.

Will Collier? Who the hell is that. Apparently the Scout and Rivals board are blowing the fuck up about something coming out tomorrow. It seems that this guy is an Auburn guy and he posted this:
"They have taken their best shot and it is a misfire. Starting tomorrow, it's our turn. And all hell is coming with us!"
What that means, hell if I know but it seems to have some people stirred up in a good way for Auburn.
I think this is what the stink is about:

I can dig it.
