Auburn notebook: Gus Malzahn says Cam Newton is `extremely motivated'
Charles Goldberg/Auburn Bureau, The Birmingham News, Press-Register, and The Huntsville Times
Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn said he liked the feel of Tuesday's practice and the look of quarterback Cam Newton as well.
Malzahn said Newton is "extremely motivated" after almost a week of stories that questioned his recruitment to Mississippi State and his academic standing at Florida.
Malzahn said Newton has shrugged off the distractions. Newton is not at jeopardy at Auburn.
Malzahn was asked if Newton has been focused as the Tigers move to Saturday's game against Georgia.
"He sure has. As a matter of fact, he's extremely motivated. He had a good practice tonight and he had a good practice last week. He's very focused,'' Malzahn said.
Malzahn was asked if the Tigers had rallied around their quarterback.
"I think that is fair to say. Our guys, they know what is on the line and they have worked extremely hard to get to this point. Off the field stuff, I really don't think will be a factor."
**Linebacker Josh Bynes said the team isn't "paying attention" to the Cam Newton stories.
"We're just worried about what we're doing for Georgia. We know Cam and that situation, we're not worried about it, it's not a distraction,'' Bynes said. "Because whatever it is, I know for a fact, everybody else here knows it's bogus. So we're just going to go out there, let everybody else do the talking, while we go out and handle business on Saturday."
**Receiver Emory Blake said nothing has changed.
"Cam is the same person to me,'' he said.
What do you all think "extremely motivated" means in relation to Cam?
What do you all think "go out and handle business on Saturday" means in relation to Josh Bynes and the D?
In both cases, I think it means some Georgia guys gonna wish they had stayed on the bus.

Being falsely accused when part of a team affects the entire team/program. They're pissed off I'm as most REAL Auburn fans and alumni. So, it only goes to reason that those emotions show up at practice and on game day. If anything comes of this, it will be a motivated team and not just one individual. The big uglies LOVE them some Cam and they'll be extra pissed Saturday. I would not want to be in the trenches for UGA Saturday.
