I have been hearing and reading, and some are even reporting as fact:
*That John Bond contacted the NY Times and/or ESPN on the Cam Newton deal to get this rolling.
*That Urban Meyer/Mullen/Bond had a conversation to "out" this situation.
*That Bond is/has changed his story about how he was "contacted" by Rogers.
I can find nothing other than "it's being reported" but without any source to back it up as to these things. Basically, "it's being reported" seems to be a media substitute line for "we've heard rumors". As to what Bond has said, NO media source I've read even questions that at all. That part is basically internet folks trying to find something, anything, to hang their hat on to make this more sinister than it is, or to hate on Bond. I've read just about everything I can get my hands on on the situation. I can't find ANY source that can confirm, with evidence, or by an admission of one of the parties, any of those things.
Next...
Finebaum, as he will do, is trying to drag this out, while at the same time somewhat defending Cam and Auburn with his mouth. He's also suggesting, as is Jay Evans-Barker, that more info is yet to come. Primarily that other schools were approached with similar offers, which infers that Auburn must have been as well, instead of this being an isolated incident with MSU and an MSU former player. He seems to forget or not realize that for a school to NOW come out and admit they were approached by Rogers, or anybody saying they represented Cam, that they'd also be admitting they didn't report it when it happened. I'm just thinking that isn't going to be happening

By NY Times, I suppose this was the same Thamel guy? I could have swore I saw something posted here Friday about some group or organization that Meyer is in with this Thamel guy.

My sources from da skreets are reporting that Jesse Ventura and his crack team of investigators have a secret meeting already planned in Centerpoint that will bring the college football world to it's knees. I can't say anymore.

Well, all that points to is that among all that is out there about this story, there is growing proof of connections between these guys. Could it be Thamel broke the story to ESPN to get the ball rolling and first source would be Bonds.

Could be. Thamel is the CFB writer at the NY Times, so claiming that "connections have been revealed between Thamel and Meyer, or Bonds , or Mullen" is pretty weak.

I've been saying, since this all came out, that MSU is the one that needs to worry. Whenever the "go between/booster's" name pops up, that's when shit gets real. It's not going to be just any booster, it'll be one of the "higher ups" that Rogers went to, knowing that he could get shit done for him. That'll be when the NCAA looks at that booster's records, receipts, etc.

Word is Gregg Doyel from CBS has a column coming out slamming ESPN and NYT for their knee jerk reactions.
