However, now that the spinning wheel is starting to trend in favor of Cam being an innocent victim, I would not be surprised to see him come out in defense of Cam... not because he believes it, not because he wants to say it, but because he would look even more ridiculous if he tries to ride the persecution train.

Finebaum did well and did actually defend Cam himself. However, he is questioning Cecil Newton, Cam's father...

Finebaum knocked it out of the park FOR Newton and AU. Made it clear, and had Schlabach clarifying that AU are victims in this at this point. Called out Bianchi about how ridiculous not voting Cam for Heisman is.
Rare, but BRAVO to F'Baum in this segment.

He also has to help keep his cover for himself and Alabama. Since they are both responsible for the timing of this anyway.

Not sure what show you're listening to, but I heard the words come out of his mouth that he believes Auburn and Cam have clean hands on this. Not sure about Cam's daddy.

And Finebaum's trying to spin Barnhart's statement that "There is a special place in hell for Cecil Newton if this turns out to be true" to be the focal part of his story, and HEAVILY insinuating that he "knows something we don't" about the situation. He took a very minor part of his statement, blew it up as if it was the focus, and left out what actually was the focus, which was that he thoroughly believes Newton and Auburn have NO connection.

Three things on that in reverse order of importance:
1. Finebaum gives just a little bit of info and acts like there's a lot more because he wants people to stay tuned in.
2. Finebaum knows that if Auburn and Newton are reported to be in the clear, his show has to talk about the Bama/LSU game which is boring.
