My point stands.

If the voters were actually using their brain power, they would note that Auburn has defeated three quality opponents.  Oregon has defeated one (Stanford).  Oklahoma has defeated two (Texas and Florida State).  Boise State has defeated one (Virginia Tech).  TCU has defeated zero.

But Auburn is 5th.  Why?  Because they were 7th and two teams in front of them lost.  So naturally, that means Auburn is 5th and no better despite defeating what was considered a NC caliber Arkansas team.

that and the fact that we started so low but if we take care of business our next victim IS undefeated and a strong performance, again in the spotlight, should garner more favor.

I still think we will be ranked #3 after we beat LSU this weekend.

This. We beat LSU this weekend, we're 3rd possibly 2nd. Also, tonight we'll see what the puters say.

I guess, we'll see. You don't think beating another top ranked will put us over Oregon?

If we beat LSU, I see us making the jump to #2.  The computers have LSU ranked #2 and us #3.  We beat them, we should move up in the human polls and at the very least move to #2 in the computer rankings.

Not sure if beating LSU will or not but beating them and Bama will.

Well, currently we're at #4 in the BCS but I def think beating LSU jumps us over Boise. As I look at the point differential b/w us and Oregon it might be a stretch the more I think about it. I'm not a BSC guru guy so I don't know how many points that would give us. I do agree with Sani, wins over bama and Lswho fo sho gets us in at #2. Then we would see all the other polls magically align themselves with the BSC.

I don't know the intracacies of the BCS, but seeing as how the two teams in the 1 and 2 slots rare BCS AQs, I think it will take more than one win to do that.  I could be wrong, and  that's cool too.  Jumping 2 teams that both win?  When has that happened at this point in the season?  Enlighten me on how that will happen and I'll be glad to listen.

FWIW, the "BCS Guru" on the morning drive this a.m. said that an Undefeated AU team reaches #1 by year's end, regardless...so maybe that first jump happens if we win this weekend...I don't know.

Well, I was speaking of the BCS rankings primarily. After I made this post, I went to ESPN to look at the points. Like I already said, after looking at the point differential, I'm not so sure that would happen. There is pretty decent gap b/w us and Oregon in points. Like you, I'm not up on this whole BCS point system either, so I can't really say. I was just thinking that since LSU is ranked in the top 10 of the BSC, that would give us a pretty big jump in points. I would certainly think we would jump Boise thought for sure.
