I didn't see it all due to my youth team's game, but from what I did saw, including the 4th Q, I agree. Penalties and turnovers may cost us an otherwise winnable game though.

THIS!!!!!!!!! IN SPADES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They have GOT to stop the bullshit penalties.
But tonight was the game I was waiting for.

Yes, this looks like what Malzahn has in mind although we are far from polished but the defense as a unit was better against a well prepared team. We stiil miss some tackles and get overmatched in coverage but we are showing improvement each week. Chiz called for physical and I have to say this team answered because I never liked our chances to come from behind in the past. I'm proud of 'em. We ain't pretty but we sure are exciting.
-
Got a lot of areas to correct but still improving.
Encouraging.
-
If we stop the turnovers we'll be a very special team!
-
I agree, the penalties are the areas the we MUST improve. Otherwise, this is the Auburn team that I want to see. These mf'ers showed up to play tonight and I am loving every bit of it. The one thing I am loving the most is that this team DOES NOT QUIT. Also, this is one hard hitting motherfucking D. They may have missed some tackles in the past, but these boys are gellin' and taking some heads off. They are nowhere near the top of the stats of turnovers but they are laying the fucking wood. I told ya'll mf'ers that Garcia would gift wrap some turnovers but i did not think it would be because he got his marbles rattled. Fuck you if you don't think this team is one to be reckoned with. War Damn Eagle bitches!

Cam "Superman's Daddy" Newton is a baaad mutha fucka. Without him we're 1-3.
I like our chances in all of the remaining games, provided we tighten up on the turnovers and cut back on half of the penalties.

if we were 1-3 while only playing 10 players on offense, I'd feel pretty good.

We seemed to drop into coverage too deep early on and the short stuff was killing us. I think they got a little greedy after the first long catch which was perfect. In the second half we shut down the run and actually forced some late turnovers. Dyer had a good night and it was good to see Blake and Lutzenkirchen get involved.
Cam shows a very accurate fastball when he wants to. No one catches it but it is impressive.

I liked the way he used his Slider late in the count!

Thank you Garcia for pulling through for us. Auburn loves you. Another week, another QB getting his bell rung.
-
USCe's receivers went 6'5"...6'5"...6'4". We were going to have some mismatches last night regardless of what we did on D.
-
The winner of the FL/SC game will determine who plays Auburn in the ATL this year.
-
I was talking with some USCe fans after the game and told them I'll pull up a Lay-Z-Boy and a cooler just to watch the USC/Clemson war. That shiot should be gooooood.

Oh yeah, tat will be a good'n. Honeslty, judging from the two, I think Clemson wins that one.

You seem quite certain Champ.

I was questioning them about who and why the new QB came in the game. Didn't see where Garcia was hurt. maybe those who watched on the tube can tell me. They said this was Spurrier's new boy. Loves the kid and very much dislikes Garcia. If Garcia wasn't hurt (Again, maybe someone can fill me in) that was one hell of a time to throw the kid in the fire. I thought he did well considering.

Who else will win the East division. :bar:

The first fumble from Garcia was from a nice hit that Demond Washington, I think, layed on him. Then he fumbled the second time. Personally, that was a mistake by Spurrier. Your right though, Garcia has camped out right around the dog house since he has been there.

Let's see....Georgia? No! Um, Vanderbilt? Naa...Oh wait..Tennessee, oh what am I saying? Wait, I know...Kentucky because...what's that? Florida drilled them last night?
Okay, My prediction is the the East will come down to USCe and Florida.

I like the way you think. Too add to that, the Cocks are good enough to win that one.

That should be an interesting game, it'll resemble two retards in a pillow biting contest. Very exciting shit.

Spurrier hurt the team's chances by pulling Garcia (hindsight of course0 who wasn't hurt and was giving his all while being separated from the ball with the help of Auburn, namely Bates first, then later Bynes. It turns out that what Spurrier thought was an open receiver running toward the sidelines was shadowed by an Auburn defender. Plus Garcia made the correct choice rather than forcing a weak throw while rolling to his left as AU pursued heartily. That is my take.
-
Here's why I was so proud of this club last night. It wasn't just that Malzahn finally decided to extract his head from his ass and realize that there is such a thing as a pass play you can call under 35 yards. It was because I heard 2 interviews with Tom Luginbill (sp?) who was on the sidelines for the Clemson game. He couldn't stress enough that the AU/Climpsum game was the most physically brutal game he had ever seen. I was not expecting AU to come out and be physically and mentally prepared to match up with another physical and talented team. I guess 35 points and 500 yards of O made my prediction look like a big steamy pile of possum shit. War Damn Eagle.

Thats all the other talking heads could say as well, just downright brutality. Hell, I actually heard Holtz say that Newton should be in the Heismen Hunt. The boys came out and continued the same brutality, just ask Garcia and Lattimore.

Oh yeah, the word's out. Auburn spots you a lead and still beats your ass.
Well that's what somebdy told me.
Wait was that me?

Agree! Although the turnovers have to stop.
Funny thing, for the first time this year, I never thought we were going to lose that game. Even when we were down 2 scores.

I hate to admit this, but I was the same way. I never sweated a single third and whatever - In Cam We Trust. I know... homerism at its finest, and we cannot CANNOT put all our eggs in one basket...
But dammit all.
I was confident.
What a freaking concept.

It wasn't just about Cam for me. I was really nervous about this game, but after the score was 20-7 I had this strange calm like, I wasn't worried, that we would handle it. If not for thos two turnovers we I think we would have destroyed them and I think they are a good team.
-

I agree, but I think the penalties are hurting us worse as far as scoring goes. We have left lots a points on the field because of this. Of course, you could say the same thing about the turnovers. If these were at a minimum, we would have won much more decisively. Anywho, I'm seeing this team becoming a freaking monster. Im McLovin it.
-
OK. I gotta bring this up. What the hell is the deal with Cam not being able to throw 15 yards without it being high as hell?
If we have anyone else other than Lutzenkirchen in the endzone they do not make that catch.
-

Agree with that. I was worried a little, but not as much as I was against WVU last year or Clemson this year. We were moving the ball good, just got a case of the fumbleitis for a moment and it cost us two scores.

Umm....he got his neck fucked sideways jmar on that fumble. When there's even a remote sniff of a neck injury, you aren't going back in the game.
-
I agree GF. The reason I wasn't worried though was because Auburn was winning the battle up front all night. Both defensively and offensively. We took it to them and pounded the ball straight down their ass. That's what I want to see. I want to see hard nosed, down hill running. With Cam leading the way with those runs on the lead option. I still think Cam mis read several option plays...if they were in fact the option. They play call may have just been a keeper or a power though.
Either way, Cam is a bad ass. And it is hard to stop that guy for less than 2 yards. He falls for at least 3 yards every time he is hit. It's fucking amazing...

Agreed. I also think this is why Bama will gash the Cocks. They have the 1-2 punch and O-line to pound them into submission. Spreading the ball around and bringing Blake and Litzenfrichenstein into the mix was huge and really bodes well for the future when you give teams more options to defend against than Adams downfield and the occasional throw to Zachary.

He played again after that, for one more series that also ended in a fumble.

Right....further proof that the boy wasn't right after that hit. He was a detriment at that point.

The boy plays for Sakerlina - of course he ain't right...
Garcia's first fumble ended with a vicious hit that had Garcia wincing on the sideline, holding his neck. Still, Garcia came out for the next series and ran the same way.
"We've talked to him since he's been here about that," Spurrier said.
"He puts his head straight down. I think he closes his eyes and he dives in there. That's a recipe for disaster. I'm really concerned about his health as we proceed. Something bad could happen.
"There's nothing worse for a football coach, or a parent, than to see a player out there not moving."

Galling and surprising as it might be, South Carolina is now 11th in the SEC in total defense -- in front of only Vanderbilt. The Gamecocks are giving up 368.5 yards a game.
In a single night, USC went from first to eighth (128.2) in the league in rushing defense.
"You never expect that to happen," Johnson said.
Boom.

I'm not sure we played a complete game, but we got better. Since the first game there have been nagging inconsistencies that if fixed, we could be really good. They are not fixed yet, but you can see that they are being worked on. The biggest one that I have complained about is Cam's inability to see and throw the short to medium route. Well this game he showed that he is seeing those better. However he is seeing them late. That is why he threw those 1000 mph scorchers. I'm not sure I have seen the short pass thrown that hard in a LONNNGGGG time. DA had his hands on one of those and the ball just broke through his hands. It's nice to have that ability, but is must be used wisely, as in a throw to the gut. But the fact that Cam saw the route, although late, and threw ot the correct person is leaps and bounds better than the first game.
It also seems that Malzhan has turned him loose a little more in the passing game. As soon as Cam gets comfortable seeing the short routes and throwing them earlier with a catchable ball, we will see the true face of this offense. As Cam gets more comfortable, he will also make the decision to run at the right time. This will result in multiple pile driver's for the opposing defense.
Is Cam ready for Heisman yet? No. But he is right on the edge of exploding as one of the most exciting QBs in AU history.
Bottom line is this kid is STILL getting better. We have not seen the real Cam Newton yet. That is some scary, tingly shit right there.
WAR DAMN EAGLE!

Not sure that was an option play or not. OL was Zone Blocking away from the direction of the back, and Cam was not reading the DE. May have been reading LB flow...but it's a nice twist on the Zone Read look either way, and sets up other stuff.
Yes, the feel was that we were in control of the LOS and that the game was only still at issue due to turnovers.

Actually, I just looked at the USCe highlight vid, and he is reading the DE. It's just a twist on the Zone Read. Also noticed that on the side away from the fake, the WR ran a bubble screen route.

Then you have yet to reach the ranks of insanity. You need to work on that to be a true master.
By the way, nice pick-up on the play. I was too busy trying to slam beer and watch the game. Also, I just wanted let you guys know that I found a new love for my wife watching football with me. She called the Bynes interception. That deserved an exploding fist bump.
