This team can't spread it around as well as N'western, yet Goofy Roof is making like Joe Lee Dunn because he has a little depth? The DB's are playing soft giving too much cushion so it is actually worse when we have more talent coupled with poor tackling. We make a can of corn look like phukin Joe Cox, All American. And they are doing all of this without any semblance of a running threat. Set up the pass by running the ball my ass. We practice against the best no huddle offense and we have no answer for a dumbed-down version. We need to get on 'em tight, in their bizness. Why? Because the percentages of success versus getting burned are much better than playing soft where you are allowing them space to catch the ball, just trying not to give up the big play. We are not sure enough tacklers to pull off this failed strategy. I'm not going to get into personnel, but we have some shut-down corners on this team.
It is understandable to make some errors, a breakdown in coverage occaisionally. Look you can make 15 tackles a game and actually get burned on a regular basis. We had that in the past. There is no excuse for this ridiculous bend but don't break philosophy in the SEC.
Miss. State has a short week too, and they run the no huddle. They strap it on and bring some pain.
I cannot believe Chiz is going along with this much longer because this is Auburn's best chance. This team has a chance to be very special and the elements are in place to make a serious run if and only if Chizik intercedes and lets these guys play the way they were allowed when he was the DC. Why? Because I don't think Roof has the capacity to recognize the continued momentum he is allowing the other team. You take bad angles and get cheap penalties and miss tackles when you are on your heels and playing patty cake with recievers you should dominate.

Hey it's a negative rant following a win. I can't help it. This isn't the way Auburn plays defense.

On the other hand, the offense will be celebrating it's achievements and featured in highlight reels all season long. Carr and Washinton are the right guys. Looks as if Shoemaker is back to his old form and Byrum has been the best all along. Special teams look better overall but this was just the opener.

IMO, we tackled better than I thought we would. Given that this was the first game of the season, the first time the defense can actually bring the guys down to the ground, the first collegiate game for 7-8 guys on defense, the first time since the '07 Iron Bowl that one of our guys has seen the field in Aaron Savage, the first game back by a player that could barely walk about 6 months ago in Zac Ethridge....I think we did pretty dang good. How many broken tackles did the WRs have against our D? I'll say, not that many...not enough to be all up in arms about it. I know that it was against Arkansas St...the same ASU team that Iowa beat by 3 points last year and Texas by 6 the year before. Plus, they had a new OC, so the was a feeling out period in the first qtr just to see what direction the ASU Offense was going to go.
I seriously doubt that the rest of the teams on our schedule will run the short slant/WR screen/quick pass offense. Our interior line is a fuckin' wall.

Our tackling was better than last year, but still not good. I can't understand the strategy on defense...and I like to think I'm pretty smart girl. We got a couple of guys taking up taking up the slack...Savage, Bynes...but seriously, wtf?
Our offense more than did their job, and halledamnlujah, it looks like we have a quarterback....but we aint got shit if we aint got a D.
Fuck it. I'm drunk and I'm going to bed.
P.S. Special teams looked a shitload better.

Cam will probably have more rushing yards than our RBs this weekend...he's gonna hurt atleast two players that try to tackle him up high.

Right. The guy has to either have a defensive epiphany or be run out of town. No excuses. Ball in Chizik's court. Take the reins and do not enable this man to ruin this team's chances. Far too much at stake and much less to work with next season. Chiz needs to nip it NOW!
