Title: USC and USC
Post by: Snaggletiger on September 03, 2010, 09:43:29 AM
I have to admit that in the little I watched of teh Cocks last night, they seemed to be clicking on both sides of the ball.  Watched a couple of Lattimore's carries and he looked very good.  Tough to tell what, if anything, that So. Miss had but they're normally a very competitive program and a 41-6 loss to anybody is out of the norm for them.  Time will tell for the Cocks but one hell of a start.

Southern Cal racked up 49 points in front of countless dozens on the road on Huh-Wy-Eee.  Blows my mind to have USC come to town and a stadium barely half full.  Anywho, 5 TD passes for Barkley.  That's the good news.  Kiffin's club also gave up 36 points and 588 yards in total offense to the Gay-Bo Warriors.  Game was never in jeopardy but that doesn't bode well for games down the road when they face legit D-1 offensive clubs.  I would love to see 4-5 losses and Kiffin run out of town...and his wife leave him...and come console herself with me.  Just sayin'....

Barkley looked freaking awesome.

Lattimore will be a great running back. Personally, I think he will be head and shoulders above Dyer.

What?

I'm just going against the shit you made tiny.  I think Lattimore is gonna be good, but that was one game against CUSA competition.  If Dyer has a huge game tomorrow night, I will say the same thing about him, except it will be Sun Belt comp.  I also think Dyer will end up the better of the two when their careers are over.

I think Southern Miss is bad.

They haven't been good for a couple of years. Since they ran Jeff Bower off. They had a nice run between 1980-2006, with Hallman, Bower and of course the Favre in the late 80's. I dont think they are the same sleeper they used to be.

A buddy of mine has a kid committed to them right now for this Feb's class.

I am curious what makes you think that WE?  I mean Lattimore looked good but so did Onterio McCalebb in his 3 opening games last year as well.

Southern Miss may be bad, but that was still an impressive showing by teh Cocks.  So Miss is not hang 41 points on you bad type of team.

I just don't think Fedora runs the kind of team that Bower did. Their sideline was in disarray a lot of the time. He's a hell of a recruiter and charmer (per my buddy who has talked to him several times) but I question his in game management.

USCe looked good last night. Their defense, especially the secondary, made plenty of tackles out on the perimeter that really
shutdown the Southern Miss sideways passing attack. One thing I did notice was the Cocks D-Linemen were sucking wind
early in the game when Southern Miss was clicking along in the HUNH offense. The TV timeouts saved their asses in the first
quarter. Later in the game USC actually had to burn a timeout to rest some of the bigguns. Take notes Gus...

Lattimore looked good also. He is very shifty and hits the holes quickly for a RB his size. He had a respectable start to his
college career with fiddy-something yards and 2 TDs. On those 2 TDs the line opened up holes large enough for
Andre Smith and Terrence Cody holding hands to run through.

At the end of the day I would still say that USCe will still find a way to shit the bed and lose at least 4 games this year.
It's their MO.

How many yards did McCalebb have in his first 3 games? Many of those yards against SEC foes too.

Lattimore wears McCalebb and Dyer underwear.

I like the way Latt runs. I think he is a pretty shifty back and gets up the field nicely.

I haven't seen Dyer play a lot but from the film I have seen, he just doesn't look great. It looks like he runs flat footed and dances around too much. He played against weak competition in HS in which he could do that, and I am not sure that it will translate to SEC ball. It looked like Latt hit the hole hard and ran down hill, while making people miss between the tackles. That is the sign of a damn good running back to me.

Again, I could be wrong as I have not seen Dyer play a lot.

I definitely think we got the better running back in Dyer. To me Lattimore looks kinda thin to take the abuse of a season
full of SEC defense.

BTW where can I find a set of Dyer Underoos?

Wait, Double D...you know I was hurt when you left the team.  Plus, I've only worn them once at that Christian Laetner BBQ/Pool party.

The Gore Googlewebbs have everything.

Lattimore is too tall. Dyer has a low center of gravity with his torso and is shaped like a bowling ball. at 5'8-5'9, that is perfect.

BTDub...Pitt, who is in front of AU in most polls I've seen...lost to Utah in overtime, 27-24.  Hey, I'll take anything I can get to move up in the polls...even if we haven't played a game.

Whatever.  Andre was suspended and they weren't up for having to settle for playing Utah and like Saban said, it was the fans fault.  This girls' pic proves Lord Saybinz point.  Is she properly schlobbing the Tahdknob?  I don't think so. So you take that back.

Love those captured moments that tell the whole story.  I think my two favorites (And advanced apologies for using a Bammer example) was the 92 UA/The U Shugah Bowl.  This guy I know has this series of 4 pics showing the Miami receiver streaking down the sidelines, then the Mullet DB catching up to him and stripping the ball...then taking it and going the other way.  The funny ass thing about it is the same U cheerleaders that are in the background in every still frame. They go from 3 feet in the air to "Oh...My...God...WTF just happened."

The other is the LSU/Kentucky miracle finish where LSU completes the hail Mary on the last play.  LSU receiver catches it and races toward the endzone.  The UK fans had already started storming the field in that endzone.  There's one dude that comes out of the endzone with hands raised, oblivious to what's going on...then he sees Devery Henderson (I think) coming toward him and the endzone. The guy turns and runs like a scalded dawg.

                                                                                                                                 :haha:

Doesn't show it as good from this angle, but the guy I'm talking about is wearing  #22 jersey right at the end.  He ain't happy.  And check out the UK corner back gettin all bad ass right before the play.

I gotta say as much as I hate $aban, I just about pissed myself last night laughing at this.  Gotta admit this was pretty good from both of them.

Shown during the 1st quarter of USCe game last night.

I wasn't that impressed with South Carolina.  They definitely looked better, but Garcia still had many "What the hell is he throwing to?" moments.  I think their running game will be stuffed against SEC defenses, and Garcia will be forced into mistakes.

Their defense didn't impress me AT ALL.  I thought Southern Miss was playing very well early on against their D, but they kept making mistakes when they got to the other side of the field.  If Southern Miss had scored early like they should have, it would have been a different game.  At least into the 2nd half.

As for Southern California?  I couldn't tell you.  My ass was asleep.

Jimmy Claussen had 400 yards and five TD's against Hawaii last season. The DB's were an absolute disgrace, a clown act. Before that game Claussen was considered a total bust. Barkley is a better QB but this isn't a good measuring stick. How much could the Rainbow's improve?

I didn't see Lattimore but I expect him to rack up some yards because Garcia does have those WTF momentum killing skilz.
