damn...man that is a freakin downer. I say we should pray for the kids that were airlifted and this family, that God gives them strength through this. This is tough on the emotions. I seriously hate this for them.

Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall said, "Guys don't mind hitting Michael Vick in the open field, but when you see Cam, you have to think about how you're going to tackle him. He's like a big tight end coming at you."

Other than being a bammer, Kines was comical and seemed to be a pretty good guy.   His retirement plans were ruined by this tragedy.  Hope the kids come through.

The thought of being in his shoes right now is unimaginable for me.  I simply can't comprehend the pain of one of my two sons all of a sudden being gone.  Prayers for every person involved.

Updated article.  Apparently she was driving her 14yr old son to football workouts along with her 7 year old.

Police: Teenager in deadly crash was trying to pass another vehicle

By Stephanie Taylor, Staff Writer
A teenage driver involved in a fatal head-on collision Monday morning was trying to pass another vehicle on North Ridge Road, investigators said.

Susan Kines Langston, the daughter of former University of Alabama assistant football coach Joe Kines, was killed in the head-on collision.

Her sons, 7 and 14, were still being treated at Children's Hospital in Birmingham Wednesday, said Capt. Loyd Baker, commander of the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit. According to school staff, Langston, 43, was driving her older son to a summer football workout at North Ridge High School, where her husband Keith is an assistant football coach. She was heading toward Old Colony Road. The teenagers were driving toward the school.

Baker said that the teenage driver and four passengers had left summer classes at the school and had bought lunch at McDonald's. They were returning to the school at 11:15 a.m. when they crashed in the 5700 block of North Ridge Road, he said. Passing is allowed on the stretch of road where the crash occurred, near the intersection with Old Colony Road.

All of the teenagers were treated and released from DCH Regional Medical Center.

The 18-year-old driver's name has not been released. Baker said that it is too early in the investigation to determine whether charges will be filed.

Traffic death cases are usually heard by grand juries, who decide whether charges should be filed, he said.

It seems that the ones always at fault are the ones who survive and the innocent ones end up losing their lives. Just doesnt seem right.
