I disagree.  You can get a hell of a lot less depth and still be out of condo sight.  I would contend those that say that know less than shit and are just spouting off at the mouth.

Got an email from a boat captain that I charter with out of Grayton Beach.  BP hired him to patrol that area and report back to them.  Yesterday, the oil was very thick 4 miles off the beach.  

I think I'm gonna' throw up.

We hate BP because they bypassed too many warnings and safety guards that caused the blowout.

I know I see it everyday, believe me. I wished things weren't so pushed though. I have seen people killed because of this, and DWH was no different. The well should have been sealed with kill mud instead of sea water before the last cement seal was placed (I mean shit, why risk it?). That was one of the reasons for the blowout.

Has nothing to do with that. It has to do with a Shelf moratorium put in place in 1981 under the democrat heavy house.  Reagan hated it but his hands were tied. Bush (Jr.) hated it too and tried to lift it in 2008 but it was blocked by the dems. BP and the others were in unchartered territory (5000+) when they could have been anywhere on the shelf. There are PLENTY of places to drill in shallow water that is not in Condo's eye view. Thats a horseshit argument and you know it BF.  This is about politics and environmental lobbyists having way too much influence on a country's energy policy. THIS - is the ROOT CAUSE.

Sure - but they aren't the only ones.  MMS granted a waiver to this rig not long before it went kaboom that allowed it to bypass many of the normal tests that it must pass to be operational. MMS - a GOVT agency responsible for making sure this rig is SAFE to operate. And of course days later Obama fired the head of MMS further proving this was a gov't blunder.

My 11 year old is devastated. She has been growing wild blackberrys since she was 5 or 6. This patch started as a few plants allowed to grow wild which now covers most of our land and allows for many snacks and pancakes and muffins. This years crop is destroyed!

By definition, a "blow out" is an uncontrolled well condition above the surface of the land or sea floor.  You know... blow OUT...

What they are talking about here is damage to the formation itself - a collapse or other perforation of the walls of the reservoir that would reduce the formation/hydrostatic pressures in the well and might make it impossible to extract oil from that location in the future.
