We'll be driving to Arkansas in a couple weeks from S. Florida, and hope to make it to Birmingham the first day.  If we don't make it that far, might stop for the night in Auburn.  Does anyone know if the Days Inn there at 280 and I85 is decent?  Days Inns can be hit or miss, I've stayed in some nice ones and also some that were shitholes.  Need something dog-friendly, and the pickings are pretty slim.

I stayed there a couple of years ago & it was pretty nice. Sits on the south side of the Auburn exit on I-85.

You're driving from SFL to AR and you're debating stopping in Bham or Auburn?

What route are you taking?  Cuz, those two cities aren't on the same path to anywhere.

Since they finished the highway thru there, the fastest way now is to go up I-75 to Tifton, then take the hwy that runs thru Columbus GA, then 280 thru Auburn and Bham, and then head up to Memphis.  Columbus is actually about half-way, but I'd like to get a little further than that so the drive's not so bad the second day.

Wow.  Wouldn't figure that route to be very speedy, but I suppose that it is the most direct.

He's talking about the intersectino of 280 and I-85.  The only two places they meet are at TigerTown (Exit 58) and Opelika (Exit 62). I don't recall there being a Days Inn in TigerTown, but I might have missed it. The one in Opelika is a shithole though.

I appear to have gotten my Inn's mixed up. It may be Hampton I was thinking of. South of the interstate on the right side of the highway.

Let me know what days wally. Im only about 8-10 mins from Tiger town (Exit 58). To be honest, those couple of new hotels near Tigertown may be the best bet for you - very nice. You got tons of restaurants and shopping, etc. And youre also only a mile or two from our beloved campus.
