The Queen of Atlanta catches it...

I wonder if they would eat their young too...  Oh, my bad...

Elton John's performance for Rush Limbaugh sparks backlash
June 8, 2010
By Jennifer Odell

When right-wing radio star Rush Limbaugh tied the knot with his much-younger fourth bride Kathryn Rogers this weekend, the event's main spectacle -- aside from a tongue-in-cheek congratulatory banner flying above the ceremony, courtesy of Gawker -- was the mystery of why the openly gay singer Elton John performed there.

But in the wake of news that Elton's $1 million artist fee may have influenced his decision to serenade a guy known for his homophobic and anti-liberal on-air crusades, the gay community is starting to vocalize its collective outrage.

"I'm flabbergasted," Aaron Hicklin, Editor-in-Chief of Out, told PopEater. "It betrays either ignorance or self-interest or both, and jeopardizes his admirable record on gay rights."

Michael Musto of the Village Voice called the Rocket Man a "whore" for his actions on Monday’s "Countdown With Keith Olbermann." And blogs like Queerty.com as well as the comment sections at websites for The Advocate and Out Magazine have been lighting up with tsks about the singer's apparent hypocrisy, according to PopEater.

Still, it seems unlikely that the Rocket Man will admit fault in his apparent support of the conservative couple. His 2001 duet with Eminem at the Grammys also incited ire among viewers who noted that some of the rapper's lyrics include anti-gay slurs. And Elton's 2005 assertion that "if gay people want to get married ... they should have a civil partnership," a comment he made to USA Today at his own civil partnership ceremony with David Furnish, hasn't exactly made him the celebrity spokesperson for overturning Proposition 8.
Imagine that...  Civil partnership...

There are a ton of entertainers I like Professionally that I don't like personally. It just sounds like to me that Elton and Rush see it the same way. They might not agree personally, but Rush may still be an admirer of his professionally and thats that. I love much of the work of Bono, Springsteen, Billy Joel and Mellencamp - but I don't particularly care for them personally. It doens't mean I can't admire their music talent. I really think thats all this was. These people are nuts. So much for tolerance eh?

Actually, that's liberal tolerance at it's finest...  We used to call it hypocrisy, but leftists always seem to get a free ride.

It's sort of like that liberal racial profiling...  It was perfectly acceptable for them to go around suggesting that the last terrorist bombing attempt in New York was likely committed by a white guy, a right-winger, a "tea-bagger", someone who disagrees with the healthcare bill, someone who "hates" Obama...  But, when it turned out to be just-another-Islamic-extremist, things got real quiet.

Couldn't have said it better.  Sometimes it makes it tough when certain musicians, artists, actors etc. open their mouths and you wish they hadn't.  But then I guess that only applies when their views are different from my own.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

Some people can't seperate politics, personal feelings, and business.  I may not do business with someone I don't personally like, but I won't cut my nose off to spite my face if they're the best for the job.  I most likely won't do business with a person or company that directly supports some polictical cause that I'm against.   However, hiring a gay performer or doing business with an openly gay person doesn't mean I'm now pro gay rights.  Business is business, all the hoopla over who is supporting what in this is simply made up media hype to fill pages and air time on what, I guess, was an otherwise slow news day.
