I wanted to take a minute to remember what Memorial day is all about. In the times that we live in, we sometimes forget the sacrifices that many have made before us and many are currently making to protect our country. We owe a debt of gratitude to the brave men and women that serve us now, and have served us so bravely in the past. Now being a father, I can't imagine the agony on ones heart to leave his family in order to protect the safety of his fellow American. To them I bestow my sincerest thanks.
For many, Memorial day is simply the "start of summer". I challenge each and every one of us to make it something more than that. In whatever way possible make this day about the principles of our great country, and the men and women who have served it so thanklessly over the years. So on this day, I for one will be doing simple things to show my thanks for our veterans, my pride in our country, and my love for my family and friends.
I will be flying my flag proudly
I will be wearing red, white, and blue
I will be reaching out to my friends who are serving, or who have served in the past to thank them
Please take a moment today to celebrate this glorious yet somber day, and remember that it is about more than just BBQ and an extra day off of work. Please say a prayer for all those currently serving, and let all around you know that we are PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!!!!
In closing I wanted to share a couple of songs that touch my heart. The first is a fantastic version of Amazing Grace, sung by LeeAnn Rimes, and the second is my all time favorite Hymn performed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. I hope these songs will inspire all of us to remember what today is all about.
