Backup QB Star Jackson 'looking for a transfer' from Alabama
By Gentry Estes, Mobile Press-Register
May 18, 2010, 8:54AM

Alabama sophomore backup quarterback Star Jackson is not planning to be back with the Crimson Tide next season, per his high school coach.

"As of right now, he's looking for a transfer," said Errick Lowe, Jackson's former coach in Lake Worth, Fla.

Lowe said Jackson met last week with Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban to discuss transfer options. Jackson is expected to leave for an NCAA Football Championship Subdivision school or a lower division so he would not have to sit out a year and retain a full three years of remaining eligiblity. The new program at Georgia State, which is on Alabama's 2010 schedule, is one of the destinations being considered, according to Lowe.

Jackson played in five games last season as a redshirt freshman for the Crimson Tide, completing 13 of 18 throws for 116 yards.

Former St. Paul's standout AJ McCarron passed Jackson on Alabama's internal depth chart, however, during the final portion of the 2009 season and exited spring as Alabama's No. 2 quarterback.

As a result, Jackson's decision to leave is tied to playing time, Lowe said.

"As a redshirt sophomore, going into next season as third on the depth chart behind a redshirt freshman doesn't look good," Lowe said. "He doesn't feel like he's going to get an opportunity to play. ... I don't think he sees himself getting a legitimate shot of playing in the next couple of years."

Sooooo...one or two years before we see an article like this about Phillip Sims?

Also, it would be funny to see Jackson playing against Saban this year in that all important game that really needs to be moved to a Thursday night.

A black quarterback will never get a fair shot at Alabama.  Is George Wallace going to escort him off campus?

Seriously....and they tried to paint US as the racist school in the state. What school was that again where "that angry little man" stood in the school house door as Gump stated? I can't recall.....West Vance something er another is coming to mind.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Absolutely, they just played whitey for no reason.  What?  He's a year further along than star?  No, that doesn't matter, it's 'cause he's white.  What?  He's an undefeated National Champion?  No way does that matter, it's 'cause he's white!  They shouldn't care about winning or losing, they should play blacky instead of whitey and they won't!

On the black QB theory. I think logic would dictate that when a head Corch's livelihood and multi-skwazillion dollar contracts hinges on wins and losses, he's going to play the guy who can get it done, especially at the most crucial position on the field.  Not defending Saybinz here, but I'm not naming my number one based on skin color if it could jeopardize the golden goose.  Whoever the best QB is, that's who is playing.  Whoever the best Corch is...black, white or mauve...that's who I'm hiring.

If you don't want a black QB, why recruit him in the first place?

Then why would Alabama even waste time recruiting them, and giving them scholarships? I mean, we just signed a black QB in the 2010 class.

It is not Saban that is the problem.  It is the old blood that donates the money to the school and the dirt road grads that show up on Saturday.  I remember when Zow was the quarterback.  It was ok when he did well, but if he threw an interception, he became a "stupid n***er".  I remember bammers' sitting in sports bars saying, "Goddamit, take n***er boy off of the field... Put in Watts....."  Who was Alabama's last black quarterback that had the support of the fans and power brokers?
