Okay, going way back and way down memory lane tonight. When I was a freshman at AU, my roommate and I were a couple of guys that had grown up on metal and hard driving rock and roll. Unfortunately, we were entering the age of the Bee Gee's and disco in general, and good rock and roll was hard to find. Remember, this was the Stone Age, prior to the Youtubes, Googled Chromes and even cell phones. EGADS!!! Pull yourself together. We somehow made it through.
One of the bands I worshipped in my high school years was UFO, a British band featuring one of the great rock guitarists of all time, Michael Schenker, who was actually German. His brother was the rhythm guitar player for Scorpions. Anywayz, we got wind that UFO would be playing at the Fox in the ATL one fine school night, so we immediately called road trip. We'd never heard of the opening act but were sure they'd rock our faces off if they were with UFO. They didn't disappoint. Cool name for a band. Plenty of leather, hair. Flying V guitar. Lead singer was a cross between The Village People and Frankie Goes to Hollywood. They opened with the song below. It became a staple of my college life when I wanted to start a night of partying. May not sound like much today, but back then..... Even the opening lick was like...Dayyyuuuummm....
