No, I'm telling you that they knew he was going to be the starter, but held back on naming him so to create great competition between the QB's.
Competition = improvement.
Fact is, since practices were closed, we don't really know who, if any of the QBs, got most of the 1st team reps. Could be that this "naming" him is purely academic, and that he took the lion's share of the starter's reps in spring anyway. Could be as you said, they did it knowing he was the starter, but pushed him by not letting him know that. Could be he wasn't nearly what they thought he was, and really struggled to name a starter. Could be pink butterflies and unicorns will fly out of my ass too. At any rate, Cam is named the starter...whehter now, August, 2 weeks in to spring, or 2 weeks in to fall...he's the #1 guy...for now!
