Keith McCants has been arrested for the 1000th time this year.  Just another fine example of Tradishun.

MOBILE, Ala. -- Former University of Alabama and NFL star Keith McCants will appear in court on Monday after being arrested on drug charges this week.

Jail records showed the 42-year-old former linebacker had a hearing scheduled for today, but court officials said it was moved to Monday.

McCants was arrested this week on warrants accusing him of attempting to purchase drugs on April 20 at a Howard Johnson on Government Boulevard.

He was charged with attempting to commit a controlled substance abuse crime and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McCants has told the Press-Register that his football injuries led to an addiction to painkillers, which in turn led to an addiction to street drugs.

He was being held this afternoon in Mobile County Metro Jail in lieu of $3,000 bail.

He lost speed and was constantly confused. Tampa Bay also drafted him not knowing that he had sustained a serious knee injury. The Bucs cut him during their 1993 training camp.

McCants is clearly a victim here.  He was treated poorly by the viscous sporting world and left to starve after he lost his athleticism.  It's such a shame to see a wonderful human being thrown to the wolves on the cold, dark streets after he was used for entertainment by society.  Not only should he be acquitted of all charges, he should receive a hefty retribution for the way society has treated him.

I don't give one rat's ass about McCants, but I do find it odd that we clog up our judicial system with people trying to "BUY" drugs. I'm not sure what the threat to society was here?
