Josh Bynes has grown into a monster LB in the middle at about 240. That may not be huge for most SEC schools because we've been so used to 207 lb. speed guys under CTT. My concern is Eltoro Freeman getting lost in the shuffle or in a position that he can't handle. There is absolutely no question about the guys athletic ability, his intensity and how fast his motor runs....which may be half the problem. Coaches have often said they have to calm him down to focus. It seems to me like he missed a lot of playing time last year because he simply wasn't grasping where he needed to be. Oftentimes when he was in, he was running 5 yards behind the back he was supposed to be covering out of the backfield. Obviously, this is just my armchair analysis from what I saw on the field and read from the Corches.
I brought up Bynes because I'm wondering if Freeman would be more suited for the middle of the field with Bynes making a move outside. Would Eltoro find his niche if his main responsibility was simply to follow the ball and knock the hell out of whoever carries it? Is Bynes fast enough to stay with tight ends or backs coming out on his side? I'd like to hear from some on here with experience at that position, playing or corching....or other "experts" like myself who like to come off sounding incredibly smart. I'm just wondering if an incredible talent like Eltoro is ever going to reach his potential at Auburn.
