gulf coast (specifically florida's panhandle)
« on: March 04, 2010, 01:47:56 PM »
packing the family for a two week journey back east in september.

we've decided to spend 1 week in the atl to visit family.

the second week will be the "fun" part of the two week venture.

it's been many years (15+) since i last visited destin/panama city.

any recommendations on accommodations.  family of 4 that includes 2 adults and 2 children.  looking for a reasonably priced resort that offers pool and beach access.  money is an object unlike most of ya'll on this board.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Prices will be dropping post-labor day, but you're still in a shoulder season.

My first advice would be to check www.vrbo.com. I've used the site a few times and always had a good experience.

If there is a specific property you want to know about, just ask. When you get here I'll buy you a beer. Or two.

On the off-chance that the fairy tales ain't bunk
And Imma keep a bottle of that funk
To get motel parking lot, balcony crunk.

I went to Six Flags in ATl for the first time in 15yrs last summer.  It was still a fun place to go.  It had changed alot most notably the surrounding neighborhoods off the exit.

As far as Gulf Coast I' reccomend The San Destin Hilton.  Panama City is still the redneck riveria of hs students and college spring break.  Destin has some clean beaches, great restraunts and is family friendly ie people with a little more income.  If you haven't been to Orange Beach/Gulf shores in a while check it out, still a great family vacation spot.  Gulf shores has the water park and the outlets at Foley, and the ferry from Dauphin Island to Fort Morgan.

Take the advice of the Emerald Coast Attorney about your Panhandle experience.  He knows.

Also, take him up on the offer of a beer (or two).  He doesn't pay but the head is wonderful...on the beer.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."
