Could someone post in a help forum how to take screen shots. I must be the dumb one around here. And I still cant post pics unless I have a google pic or like a photobucket address for the pics.

You can usually just hit the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard. On some keyboards and systems, however, you might have to press Alt + Print Screen. Then you can open up Microsoft Paint (which is in the accessories folder of your start menu), and press Ctrl + V (which is the shortcut for going to "Edit" in the menu and clicking "Paste").

Do you then have to save it on ie. imageshack, photobucket etc and post the link to the url to post the pic or is there a way to post a pic from your computer directly to the board?

You don't have to store it online with ImageShack or any of those services. If you look below the text box in which you type your replies to people, there is an "Additional Options" link. When you click on that, it expands to show you additional options. One of those is an "attach" option. You can click on the browse button and find the picture on your hard drive so that you can attach it to the message.

I assume this works. I've never tried it before, but that appears to be the purpose of it. Instead of showing the actual image in the message of the body, I believe it just shows a link that people can click on. Those are the links where you see it telling you how many times the attachment has been viewed.
