AU 1940's




Auburn used a solid blue helmet with a solid center orange strip in 1951.
In 1952, AU wore a solid white helmet...no striping no insignia.
1953= added the large orange stripe with small blue piping on the side of the orange stripe.
1958 = Numbers were added to the helmet
1966 = The AU logo that we are all familiar with today was added for the '66 season

Based on what? What have they done to appear the types? What EXACTLY did they do this year to give you that impression. I want one example...Because I can give you a couple of reasons how they have "embraced" Auburn's traditions...

Uniforms change - the trends come and go.  I doubt I would get my undies in a twist about what color helmets we wore on the field as long as they did not look ridiculous (a la the Oregon Ducks Fighting Highlighters).

But do away with something like Tiger Walk and watch the faithful explode.  Or let the faithful find out that the head coach is directly importing stupid shit from an arrogant suckass Pac-1+9 school and pushing that instead of Auburn or even SEC traditions... head on silver platter time.

Coaches will coach like their mentors taught them to, and similar play calling is to be expected.  But to either not be able to create your very own "get fired up" stuff shows a decided lack of creativity.  I would raise holy hell if I found out that even something minutely resembling a USC game day tradition entered our locker room.  I hate USC.

I thought people were going to lynch Terry Bowden for the orange shading he let them put on the numbers.  That violation of protocol was one of the main reasons he was fired or allowed to quit or whatever.  Nobody wanted that orange shadow. 

I'm really surprised the natives didn't try to string up Jacobs and Nikki Borges for taking us out of Russell and putting us in Underarmor.  Had they changed one tiny thing about the unis, we might have slaughtered them both.
