For those of you who have expressed an interest in how the SEC shares bowl and other revenue, below is a breakdown of how it works:
From P. Marshall:
"Actually, it's not equal. After expenses, bowl money is divided 14 ways - two shares to the competing school, one share to each other school and one share to the SEC office.
Here's how it works:
The $132.5 million in 2009 was derived from $52 million from football television, $25.4 million from bowls, $14.3 million from the SEC Championship Game, $13.6 million from basketball television, $4.1 million from the men's basketball tournament and $23.1 million from NCAA Championships.
Not included in the total was $11.6 million retained by participating schools in bowl games and $744,000 divided among the 12 schools by the NCAA for academic enhancement."
