Some thoughts of concern:
After our opening two drives that went for touchdowns, we went three and out 8/11 times.
We were outscored 26-7 after being up 14-0. We were outscored 31-10 against Georgia after being up 14-0.
We haven't had a meaningful turnover in the last two games.
We committed 8 penalties for 68 yards against Bama and 9 penalties for 60 yards against Georgia.
Something I noticed was, outside of a shitload of trick plays, Malzahn isn't much of a playcaller. The last drive really showed this as well. AU's offense damn near the entire first quarter was just trick plays, and they worked. 18 plays for 214 yards isn't bad at all. But they only worked once, usually. Outside of the first quarter, AU had 118 yards of offense. Anytime AU went to anything conventional, we killed it. Most of the trick plays didn't work after the first quarter when Alabama adjusted. Something I was glad to see was AU having to check to the sideline for plays, and having to huddle. Didn't see any of that in the first quarter when AU was rocking our asses. I knew if they were having to check with the sideline or huddle alot, then Alabama was doing something right defensively.
Two TDs were due to bad coverage. On one in the first quarter, Kareem Jackson (of fucking course) missed a tackle in open field. Lee Ziemba wasn't called on a facemask that brough Kareem Jackson down, then about 3 other guys missed tackles on the first scoring drive. There is no fucking reason anybody should be able to score on a 70+ yard run play when we are in dime. Another one, for whatever reason, Mark Barron (SS) was playing man on y'alls best receiver......still can't figure that one out. But still, the guy has to get to the endzone somehow, so you gotta give AU credit there.
