Auburn and Auburn on the same day
« on: November 21, 2009, 11:23:39 AM »
Auburn vs. Alabama?  89k fans in the stadium.  About 50k+ more on the streets.  Game ends at about 5.

Auburn vs. Prattville?  10k fans in the stadium.  Game begins about 6.

Traffic?  Nightmare.

Chaos due to idiotic scheduling by CBS, Jay Jacobs, and Mal Moore?  Priceless.

Does Jacobs have any control over AHS's schedule?

Shouldn't they be the ones rescheduling around the University, not vice-versa?

^This^

However, I would imagine that this is the AHS play offs and there is not much that could be done about it. Maybe to play on Saturday, but that would have been the only other option.

FWIW, I don't think either team wanted to play this game the day after Thanksgiving. I think it was more of they had to do what CBS said. I know CNS has said before he didn't want to do it this way, and I can't imagine Chizik or Jacobs wanted to either.

AHS is undefeated, and headed to the Super 6 Championship.  Prattsvegas is the only thing in their way, and they destroyed AHS last year and knocked them out of the running.  Fortunately this year Prattsville has two losses, isn't quite as mean as last year, and AHS has the home team advantage.

It's a pretty big fuckin' deal, actually.  AHS hasn't been good in a loooong time, until the last year or two.

PS: I went to AHS.

Found out last night that my alma mater, Piedmont, plays Leeds next week for a shot at the state 3A playoff.  When I was in school, we never made it past first round.  PHS blew out Hamilton last night 63-35.

NO WAY is JHS ready for a high school game within an hour of the Iron Bowl.  Hell, the players won't even be out of the locker room by then.

kunt punt!!!

Prattsvegas has had our number for many years.  (I have family there, and an ex that was from there.)

I'm just glad we're back to beating Opelika.  We hadn't done that since I graduated in the 90's.

I moved there in middle school.  No family there except my parents and sister.  Got the fuck out literally the day after I graduated HS.  So no inbreeding opportunities.  You are still the token.  Get used to it.

Centre was our biggest football rival.  We beat them 12-0 my senior year.

We spent a lot of time on Weiss Lake.

My parents are from Gadsden.  Dad went to GHS and Mom went to Glencoe.

Good thing the Auburn-Prattville game is at Duck Samford Stadium.

Yeah, pretty sure only the championship game is played at BDS or JHS.

Yup.  Super 6 is in Ttown this year.  Next year is JHS.

The AHS/PHS game is across town at DS.

Still, a traffic problem, considering people trying to come INto down for the HS game are going to be meeting the people LEAVING town from the AU/UA game.

Best bet for them is to come in from Opelika.

Actually, the worst part is the police issue.

Now, I've only heard this from people who are still down in Auburn, but I was told that they're having to really stretch security between the two venues.  Also, my friend told me they're more worried about what to do if Auburn U wins.  Toomer's will be packed and will need a large amount of security for crowd control.

With 10k+ people cramming into AHS for an intense high school game, police will need to be present there as well in good numbers.  Not to mention directing traffic and such.

I thought they already played in BDS last season? Maybe I'm just thinking of them announcing it last season, to start this season.

The high school game was moved to 8.

So I don't see it being a big deal.
