I'll have a detailed LSU-Ole Miss thing later this week.
Arkansas 31, Mississippi State 20.
MSU got dropped by Alabama last week, their sixth loss this season. It is probably too much to have expected the Bulldogs to go bowling this season, but if they can pull two upsets, they will be eligible. However, that’s a tall task against an Arkansas team looking to improve its bowl destination and to avenge a loss last year. To do that, the Hogs have to find an answer for MSU RB Anthony Dixon who torched them for 179 yards in the previous outing. This Arkansas team is playing better on defense this year and the offense is absolutely top notch. It’ll be a fight, but Arkansas will prevail.
Kentucky 23, Georgia 21.
The Bulldogs won an emotionally and physically draining game over Auburn last week which probably buys Mark Richt time to right the ship in Athens. Kentucky has overachieved and will make a bowl game for the fourth consecutive year. Georgia has finally figured out the formula on offense (run the ball, throw deep off playaction) but the Dawgs defense is going to be tested against the playmakers from Kentucky. The Wildcats have won on the road and are opportunistic enough to get it done. This one has upset written all over it.
Tennessee 34, Vanderbilt 10.
Vandy is awful on offense. Tennessee (in spite of the beatdown layed upon them by Ole Miss last week) is still talented on defense. There aren't enough distractions to keep the Vols from winning this game.
Out Of Conference Games
Alabama 44, UT-Chattanooga 6.
UT-Chattanooga has changed mascots more often than they'll be in position to score in this game. The Crimson Tide starters play for a little more than a half before giving way to the 4 and 5 star backups on the bench.
Florida 33, FIU 9.
The three teams FIU has scored victories over have a combined 7-23 record (one of them is 5-5). By my count, this is the third chump the Gators have squared off against out of conference play this season. Florida tunes up the backups as they prepare for a rivalry game with FSU and a title showdown with Alabama.
