Actually, I think Memphis would be a great starter job for Gus.  Memphis is a great area for recruiting, and he's close enough to Arkansas to pick up the stud high school players that Petrino has no use for.
If Gus takes the job, he may carry one of those studs with him.

So, if Gus does leave AU, and they are left with alot of "system" players, who does AU bring in as OC?

Who on our team is a 'system' player?  Which one of our recruits is a 'system' player?  I didn't realize Michael Dyer was a Spread RB.

System players?  That was Tony Franklin my friend.  Eric Smith is 235.  Fannin is 225.  Dyer is a freakin' bull.  Contaye Aycock is 220+.  Our line will all be 300 lb. plus guys next year maybe with the exception of Pugh at center.

I think Rollison and a good bit of the WR corps are system type guys. Goodwin and Reed sort of fit the bill of system receivers as well.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Do you seriously want to know why Evan Doucheberry is writing articles about Trooper Taylor or Gus being under consideration for the Memphis job?

Because he is a bama graduate and a turd at heart. He still breathes and bleeds crimson and laughs every day that he makes money off us stupid rubes who he hates passionately.

The only purpose of attaching their names to that or any job is to damage recruiting. To give rivals a piece of paper they can wave in front of recruits noses and plant the seed that the coach recruiting them might not be there for even their first season. Bama doesn't care if they go to LSU or Florida or Tennessee, their primary mission is to make sure Auburn knows its place first. It's a carryover from the Bear days of doing everything possible to make sure Auburn didn't get the good players whether that meant signing 400 kids or threatening their parent's jobs (which happened then and happens now).

^^This^^

You know what Coach Andy Lutz told me and two other guys a few years ago?  The hardest thing to recruit against is rumors.

Kids get told a thousand things on the recruiting trail.  Whether it's from their own coaches, other schools' coaches, boosters, media guys, writers for Rivals/Scout, other players, etc; they are given a plethora of information.  They have to sort through all of it and make the best decision.

Do you ever hear a Bama coach or LSU coach selling their school over the football program or coaching staff?  I can't think of any instances.  Auburn HAS to sell Auburn.  It's futile to sell the coaching staff because Bama tries their damndest to sour our head coach's reputation.

Malzahn and Taylor (more than likely Malzahn before Taylor) will get their gigs when they get offered.  They'll take a better job opportunity, and you can't blame them for it.  The problem is, until they actually receive a decent offer, we'll be fighting the rumors.

Trooper is your associate head coach and he has been in several big time places he is a choice for any head coaching job. Gus' offense has put him in the discussion as well. Face it guys you have some great coaches on your staff and they are in demand. I wish the barn had a weak staff and no one wanted them.

Why would Gus and Trooper even be mentioned before any of the Bama assistants, trainers and cheerleaders?

There's one poster here that thinks you have no clue about what you're talking about....I'm not going to mention his name because I really don't want to see him fucking up another handful of topics.  If Auburn were to lose in these next two ballgames, you'll see him.
