John Thrower Has Passed....
« on: November 02, 2009, 02:01:06 PM »
"Stump" Thrower has apparently passed away this weekend.  Details are few at this time, but if true, he passed this weekend and was found this morning in his home.

Anyone else heard anything?

Supposedly he's been very ill for the past few weeks.

Verified now....  He was 56 years old and died from an illness of some sort.

I had actually met and had several drinks with John while I lived in Montgomery.  He would come up to Woodmere Tavern early in the evening before it turned into a night club and sit at the bar.  Great guy and great stories.

A national championship is a wonderful thing, but if you're not enough without it, you'll never be enough with it.

You're a David Ward wannabe!

I met the guy a couple times.  Never claimed anything.  Dude, for the love of God, stop the hounding and this shit.  Please.

He passed away this weekend.  All I did was meet the guy and have a few drinks with the guy.  I claimed nothing further.  Quit being an asshole.

This is exactly why your post in the other thread doesn't mean anything to me.

This isn't the thread for that shit and you know it. John Thrower was a good man who didn't deserve a lot of the shit he got in this state....and he really REALLY loved Auburn.
So have some respect.

Sorry.

I don't have a lot of anything for John Thrower.  Tinfoil hat wearer.

There's also a history regarding this topic that escapes those who aren't refugees from another island.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Maybe so. I just didn't want to see the crap between you two on this thread. I met John Thrower a few times myself, and I thought he was a pretty decent individual. I'm also sorry he's dead. That's all.

Just for the record.  John never discussed ANYTHING related to past issues the few times I was around him.  He would talk recruiting and there were some general conversations that were related to current events back then, but nothing crazy.  I took nothing from it but good conversation with a guy about Auburn, football, other things going on in Montgomery at the time.

Make your references Kaos, but leave me out of it.  I just said something because around ME anyway, he was a good guy.   That's it.  Hate that the guy died.

I don't know what the fuck that means either. All I know is that he was a nice old man who educated me on the history of the AU/Ga rivalry.

And I don't think you'd be clowning someone on a thread if David Housel was dead.

The guy that ran the site most of us came from was a drill press operator, and claimed to be best friends with all and anyone involved with Auburn because he ran an Auburn website.  He was a blowhard.  Kaos is comparing me with him since I mentioned I knew Stump.  I'd just let it go.  Just part of his problem with me.

I didn't think he was taking issue with me, whatever the drill reference. I know you two have issues and I hate that it leaks in to almost every thread...but the fact that it was brought into this one was, I thought, bullshit.
Classless. And exactly the kind of shit they are doing over in tidesports.com. If we aren't all, everyone of us, better than that.....

C'mon dude. Thrower was about as much an Auburn fan as one can be. He was a good man who got in over his head in the 90's - and paid the price. Let it be known the man LOVED Auburn. That genuine affection for all that is Auburn University is usually enough in my book. Just saying....now, go take the piss from your corn flakes and pour a new bowl.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."
