Like 99% of the Auburn fanbase, I'm sickened by the sudden downward spiral. The reasons are numerous and don't require my "Expert" analysis. Suffice it to say, the it's as bad right now as I've seen it in a long, long time. But, it went from the Penthouse to the Outhouse much too quickly and I'm still holding out hope because of the fact that there actually was a Penthouse. This team CAN be good...good enough to beat Ole Miss and Georgia if they get their mojo back. Will they? Trust me, I desperately want that to happen Saturday.
Now, for Saturday. Ole Miss is beatable if this Auburn team gets the snakes out of their heads and just goes out to have fun and lay it all on the line. As I said, they were doing just that a few short weeks ago and there's no reason they can't get that mindset back. I'm going to watch that game hoping like hell the Auburn of weeks 1-5 takes the field. If it happens, then all bets are off for the rest of the year. F.U., UGA and UA had better strap that shit on tight and get ready. If it doesn't....what then?
IF...Auburn plays a tight game and has a chance to win, we have some things to talk about. What can we improve on, where can some changes be made etc. If they get their collective asses handed to them by 3+ scores, showing the same ineptness overall that has been prevalent throughout the last 3 weeks...there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. And if Chris Todd continues his stellar play, this is one area that a change will either be made, or I will join the torch and pitchfork parade to the front steps of the Athletic Building. Make no mistake, if Ole Miss punks auburn this weekend (And Gawd, I hope they don't) this season is officially a big tittied bust. Neil Caudle is the #2 QB on the roster. He had better start every game to finish the season. No question.
Am I suggesting Caudle is the saviour, the most popular guy on the team and all that? Nope, not even close. He's the #2 for a reason. But...Neil Caudle will be here next year. Todd won't. Neil Caudle will be competing for the starting QB job next year. Todd won't. Why in the world would you not get the guy as much starting experience as possible going into next season? There are very few changes that can be made as far as players are concerned with what we have on the roster. They are playing about all the people they can right now. But if Chris Todd mucks it up Saturday, Caudle had better be in the gun against F.U. and beyond.
