Thoughts - Week 8 Part Deaux

Thoughts - Week 8 Part Deaux
« on: October 25, 2009, 12:30:19 PM »
A buddy of mine just texted me something stupid, and I had to set him straight:

His Text - "Quit blaming this on Chizik.  It's all on Tubs."

The phone call:

Me - "How? Everything about this team has regressed since the West Virginia game."

Him - "Because the talent is finally showing.  We don't have the depth."

Me - "We haven't had one injury.  Not one.  This was the excuse we had last year for Bama going undefeated.  No injuries."

Him - "Saban had the #1 recruiting class.  He had talent and depth."

Me - "I can count two starters and five backups that were associated with Saban's recruiting.  McClain and Julio Jones.  Everyone else.  EVERYONE was connected to Mike Shula's recruiting."

Him - " But what about 70 scholar-"

Me - "Who cares?  I'd be perfectly content with going 6-6 and saying 'wait until our recruits get here.'  But that's not the problem.  Even our good players are getting worse.  Our discipline is getting worse.  Our playcalling is getting worse."

Him - "So you don't think Chizik is a good coach?!?!" (very passionately asked)

Me - "No."

End of conversation.

No.  Gene Chizik is losing my respect very quickly.  Here's why:

- Antoine Carter (Injured, so he's excused.  But he looked like shit last night too.)
- Josh Bynes
- Jake Ricks
- Antonio Coleman
- Michael Goggans
- Walt McFadden
- Zac Etheridge (this is where it's most obvious)
- Craig Stevens

That's seven experienced and quality players that SUCK right now.  There aren't any "talent" excuses.  These players look night and day different compared to when they started here.

- Coleman was supposed to be a 2nd round draft pick.  I'm not sure about last night, but he had a stretch of three straight games without a tackle.  You're telling me he suddenly became a bad football player?

- Josh Bynes was talked about as possibly leaving early for the draft because of his talent level.  Now he's slow and can't tackle.

- Craig Stevens contributed as a freshman and was considered our "sure-thing" tackler.  Where's he been? He was a freshman all american.

- Michael Goggans was a solid defensive end.  He helped our 2008 defense look stout until the offensive woes eventually took its toll.

- Zac Etheridge was supposed to be our leader in the secondary.  He was part of a group that may not have been the best in coverage, but they tackled well.

- Our players are getting worse.  That's the point.  That's not talent or recruiting or depth.  Our starters who were all highly rated recruits have gotten worse.

- 25 penalties over the last three games.  We're playing undisciplined football.

- I'm not going to give up on him.  I'll eat my crow if he can turn this around.  But don't ask me to be confident in his abilities to turn this program around.

My confidence in chizik is done. Completely finished. We suck. Our team is playing like shit and we aren't this bad off on talent. It's coaching. No other way around it. I just hope we can still land some of these big time recruits and then chizik goes fucking somewhere...

what Auburn needs....and needs in a really bad way, is a fuckin' off week.

If I'm the HC, this week:
Sunday - We go easy today just correcting our mistakes from Saturdays game.

Monday - Off Day

Tuesday - Helmets and Shells, install and go over our gameplan for Ole Miss, have Todd throw to all of the receivers for every pass play.

Wednesday - Helmets and Shorts, continue installing and going over our gameplan for Ole Miss, have Todd throw to all of the receivers for every pass play.

Thursday - Shorts, finish going over the gameplan, have Todd throw to all of the receivers for every pass play.

Friday - We go out of town and do something relaxing.  In our Hotel rooms by 7, lights out at 9....getting ready for a physical game against Ole Miss in the morning.

there's only 24 hours in a day. Correcting the mistakes would take at least 4 solid days.

well yeah, but at some point, if you continue to lose, you'll just be correcting mistakes from the past game and not preparing for the upcoming game.  I remember reading last week on Wednesday that we were still correcting our mistakes from the UK game and we were starting to install our game plan for LSU.  So, again, at some point as a HC you've got to say "aight guys, watch the past game, y'all should know where you screwed the pooch...so, just watch.  Okay, Defense, keep your fuckin' head up when going for a tackle...Eltoro, I love the intensity study your playbook tonight, Todd?  Are you doing math problems in your head, while you're in the pocket, like last year?  Okay, no more squib kicks."  That's it.  Then you concentrate on the upcoming game.

Prowler, this is what a coach is supposed to do when he's at Bowling Green or Toledo or somewhere like that.  Learning on the job is not for the SEC.  This kind of stuff is what I was trying to get across almost a year ago.

You can't get on-the-job training in the SEC.  You get your lunch money taken and your face pimp slapped.

I find it amusing that the only thing you have is a signature that involves a fairly level headed prediction of Alabama winning by 14 points against UT. But, I guess when everything you ever say is wrong, you want somebody to be there with you.

Do you not know how to read lips?  Just watch one of y'alls games, and when the cameras pan over to y'alls sidelines, not only are F-bombs becoming the norm for the midget, but GD is apparently another word that he likes to say.  So, I was actually half correct.

Again, it's looking more and more likely that I'll be correct in that statement, not only will they be #1 in the BCS Polls if they win out, but they'll be #1 in the AP Polls as well.  Again, half correct.  HAHA, fuckin' homo.

So, is everything that I say wrong?

I don't mean to step into this horseshit argument that is about to take place amongst you simpletons, but half correct is still wrong.

Yeah....rws.  Hahaha, you were wrong in your whole statement.  Eventhough UT did load the box to stop the run.

Your f-bombs comment was in the context of us losing alot of games if I recall correctly. I believe your statement about our year like 2007 was somewhere around there as well.

Oh, and you forgot to include the rest of the quote about UF being #1 when AU plays them in the SECCG.

Jesus, you are a fucking idiot......
