The fact that anyone buys into this shit amazes me. The fact that it's RWS, however, does not.

There's so much wrong with Saban's statement, it's hard to waste time inserting logic into it.

But here goes:

This is a ridiculous claim from the very start. He did not fucking "research" this by calling up 120 coaches, and over half of them (even if he was using a sample size of fucking 3) admit to cheating regularly.

EVEN IF his bullshit statement were true, a piece of grass, or mud is not “any device or material used to mark the spot of a scrimmage place kick or elevate the ball". A piece of tape is something that is undoubtedly deliberately used for this purpose. EVEN IF someone picks up a piece of grass or mud off of the football field and puts it back on the ground (which is a ridiculous thought in itself), that is not the same thing as taking a white piece of tape out and putting on the spot.

As stated earlier, just how the flying fuck can someone spot a piece of grass ON GRASS to help them spot the ball from however many yards away? He'd be better pressed just keeping his eye on the spot on the ground itself. This notion completely lacks a grounding in reality.

In other words, it's complete bullshit, and you'd have to be a dipshit to buy into any of it.

Don't stop believin', RWS.
So, if we were to use mud from now on, you would be OK with that? I mean, mud is technically a "material". I mean, I agree, its not the same as tape. But if its serving the same purpose, then what? I would think if somebody was using white tape, or in UF's case, blue tape, that could easily be seen by a ref. And if the refs see it but aren't calling it, thats their problem. I mean they are right there looking at it. Where he gets the "half the country" or whatever statement, I have no idea. I'm all I've addressed in the above posts I made were how you could "research" what other teams are doing, since that is the exact word you questioned.

Don't stop being a dumbass, Chizad. Why does it feel like the off season all of a sudden? Oh, because AU is playing like shit and misery loves company. Thats why.

If you use mud on our field, you brought it from home.

I guess you calling me a dumbass absolves all dumbassery from your arguments (or unwaivering support of Saban's argument).

There was a question in that dumbassery?

Would it be ok for uat to have used mud instead? Since "over half" of every college football team has been doing this for years, I'd imagine no one would have complained about it.  :sarcasm:

I highly doubt Spurrier would have seen a speck of mud on the field from the film and said "Hey, they must be using that to spot the ball for the kicks!" For that matter, I highly doubt anyone would do this, ever, as it would be completely ineffective.

And yet again, you're full of shit on Florida's blue tape.

Show me video evidence of this.

So, you're saying I shouldn't have slept with the cleaning lady on my desk?  Cause...I gotta say, I never read that in the employee handbook.

I would guess that nobody complains, perhaps because alot of teams do it themselves. Plus, nobody else wants to seem petty about losing. And Spurrier is being just that. I'm sorry that he can't deal with the fact that he is washed up. I'm sorry that he can't handle the fact that he needs to retire. I didn't say that we used a speck of mud. I said what if we did use a speck of mud?

Think whatever you want about UF's tape. I can't readily find any videos of kicks from the game.

I'm going to step in and call this fight.

RWS?  You made yourself look ridiculous with your desperate attempts to justify Alabama's pattern of stretching the rules and then claiming innocence.

You have an asinine and contrived explanation for everything.

You've won some before.   You lost this round.  Badly.   It was like Roger Schultz on a double beef and cheese taco abuse.

Honestly, I shouldn't have even gotten into this argument. I really don't care. Obviously we're doing it, otherwise I'm sure CNS would have denied it. I never said we didn't. I'm not saying that since others do it then its ok for us to do it. I'm saying if we do it and others do it as well and we're now going to get tough on it, then lets make sure everybody stops doing it. Personally, I think its a stupid fucking argument in the first place. I mean, really? Does something this minor REALLY matter? It wouldn't change the outcome of any of the games we've played. It wouldn't matter to me if every team in the NCAA did it. Maybe I'm stupid, I just don't see how it gives you an advantage. If AU or UF did it, I would defend them because I think its just stupid to get upset over something so petty.

In other words, you're completely wrong and have no argument, but that doesn't stop you from bloviating and turning anything you can into a pissing match.

Did I say it was a huge deal? Did I insinuate it was any bigger than any other no-call? Did I say anything ridiculous like you guys should be put on probation for it?

I only laughed at how ridiculous Saban's statements on the matter were. And you, of course, defended them tooth and nail.

You could've just started your post with "maybe I'm stupid" and just left it at that.....

You don't see how it gives you an advantage???  Seriously?  If the snap is somewhat high and the placekick holder has to reach up to get it, if he misplaces the ball, the kick will either be hooked or pushed, depending on the spotting of the ball.  But if the holder can use a blade of grass to mark his spot, then I'm sure that he could just use his peripheral vision to catch the ball and place it, then he could use his Jedi mind to make sure the field goal or extra point always goes through.

This guy was a placekick holder that could concentrate on the blade of grass....

I didn't see anybody bitching and crying about UF doing it in the 2008 SECCG. I guess its ok, because we lost that game, and thats what everybody here wants.

Are we or aren't we going to not split hairs or generalize?

I just gotta know.
