Virginnie
Reckon? Really?
Haven't thought about that one. May be a good fit. Pretty good paycheck for a few years and no real expectations. He'll improve them, no doubt.
Tommy could move back home and live like a millionaire without worrying about football.

Please tell me what coach we have had since Stallings, and before Saban, that gave us some sort of advantage in the SEC. You're preaching to the choir.
Not a coach, but Logan Young tried his damnest to give bammer an advantage. Too bad his "eatin' a salad while climbing steps" skills fell incredibly short of his check writing skills.

Where do yall think Tommy will wind up next? He's wealthy and all that, but I think he'll coach again somewhere.
He could alway go back to Hermitage. Right down the road from Jerry Jones' BIL's place and shoot some ducks.
Louisville or Texas A&M? That's my top 2 guesses.

Coach Sabeen....LSU, Penn State or Notre Dame (ND isn't a part of the NCAA, he's Catholic and he is the Leprechan...sounds like a perfect match.  ND's second choice)

Auburn has a so-so defense. Arkansas has no defense. Your defense is ranked last in the SEC. How is that "improving game by game"? You are correct that Arky's run defense is so-so, and that the secondary is the worst in the SEC, but the defense as a whole is not improving each game.

If you go back and look at the 2005, 2006 and 2007 recruiting classes by Houston Dale Nutt and compare those players to ones on our roster, it quickly becomes PAINFULLY obvious why our defense sucks.  We simply do not have near enough Jimmys and Joes to fill up a 22-28 man 2 deep on the the defensive side of the ball to put forth a stout SEC quality defense.  Petrino's had one full year of recruiting and there is absolutely NO WAY to quickly build from a base of TWO good defenders (W. Davis and M. Sheppard) who would challenge for time on another SEC defense.  We need at least one more solid class of defensive players and maybe two since we need DL, LB and DB's based on the incompetence of the previous staff.

We had to play 16 true freshman and 10 redshirt freshman last year.  Our guys were indoctrinated to CFB via "baptism by fire" last year which is why we nearly lost our two opening cupcakes.  We then played Bama, Texas and Florida back-to-back-to-back and had our asses handed to us.  We ended up losing 3 SEC games by 6 points.  If those 1, 2 and 3 point victories go our way, we are 8-4 and 5-3 in SEC play (i.e. a HUGE difference).  The reason we had a chance to win 8 games is due to obvious improvement in our defense as the season progressed, but our season stats still looked horrid.  We are playing a bunch of freshman again this year (11 guys from our 2009 class are getting significant playing time at this point, including some spot starts).  There has been some improvement on defense from UGA to Bama to aTm, but there is still a LONG way to go before we are respected using the SEC standard.

For grins...

Our defense looked HORRID on the Trent Richardson 52 yard TD run putting Bama up 7-0.  We had him in the backfield and proceeded to miss 4 wrap up tackles allowing him to scoot down the sideline.  Pathetic if you ask me.  However, if you take away that 52 yard run, Alabama only gained 98 yards on their 40 other rushing attempts (i.e 2.45 ypc).  You say Arkansas run defense is so-so, but surely even you will admit the defense against 40 of the 41 rushing attempts was pretty good given the quality of Bama's running game.

The secondary?  We had the #1 secondary recruiting class in 2009 per Rivals, but we are not seeing it on the field.  One of the $64,000 questions is whether or not DC/secondary coach Willy Robinson can get the job done.  The secondary keeps me on the edge of my seat holding my breath during the game.

1. Coaching carousel
2. Scandals involving coaches (Dubose, Price)
3. Mike Shula

Are you telling me that you would take any of the coaches in the time frame specified over Nutt if given a choice? Yeah, didn't think so.

I'm curious...please give us your opinion on Nutt as a coach.

Even so, we still beat Arky by 28. I don't care if a defense can hold us to 0 yards on the ground. If we can win by 28 in that game, then I'll take it. Why take away the 52 yard run? It goes to show the tendancy of the defense. Its like saying if you just take away Chizik's 19 losses at ISU, then he was actually 24-0. The fact that a true freshman running back was able to make half of your defense miss him when they had him nailed down for a 3 yard loss shouldn't be thrown out just because it helps your argument. It happened. It counts. Hell, if you don't count our busted coverage, and you don't count a couple of our drops, we actually beat Arkansas 52-0.

Arky's run defense is ranked 7th in the SEC. I'm sorry, but thats so-so.

Nutt is crazy (in a literal sense) and very very unpredictable. I think he won some games on that alone. I think he has the team play on emotion and doesn't prepare them very well X and O's wise. His last five years he pretty much beat the teams he was supposed to beat, and lost to the teams he was supposed to lose to. Every few years he would pull an upset. I think sometimes his weird coaching decisions cost him games, such as the 2007 Alabama game. In a nutshell, I just don't think he has "it" to be able to be a contender in the SEC anymore.

I've been saying for a while that IF Saban were to leave for anywhere at this point in his career, it would be to replace JoPa at PSU.  Just speculation on my part because if I'm not mistaken, isn't CNS from the West Virginia area, in Penn State's back yard?  There was talk every year of Tuberville making the move to Arky to get back to his roots.  I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility for that to happen for Saban.  Penn State is a storied program that should demand a top name in coaching once Paterno hangs it up.

PSU doesn't want him.  They have too much respect for the old school way of Joe Pa and his classy coaching.

Saban has no class.... they would have to be desperate like UA to hire someone like that.  They'll need a couple losing years to get that way.

Classic.  It gets hotter than a whorehouse on nickel night for you when I point out Bama's 40 of 41 rushes averaged 2.45 yards against us and suddenly you defer to "well, that doesn't matter".  FCS cupcake Mizzou State had 2.3 ypc on us and Bama's vaunted running game with Ingram, Richardson and Upchurch can only get 2.45 on 20 of 41 rushes?  BTW, I am SO thankful Upchurch switched to Bama the day before signing day.  It opened up a spot for Felix Jones.

You said we were so-so.  40 of 41 rush @ 2.45 yards vs. the talent on your O-line and backfield say otherwise.  If you want to avoid another woodshed beating by a team full of Utes, you better get that fixed given your performance vs. the worst D in the SEC.

I agree with what you said outside of winning the games he should have won.  I don't want to fuck up my buzz right now by looking up and listing all the games he fucked up.

In 1997 when it was decided Danny Ford was on his way out, there was a committee put together to choose the next coach consisting of current and former players and a few VIP's (the Chancellor insisted on a committee which was BS, but I digress).  Tuberville was still at OM and several people on the committee including Frank Broyles wanted to hire Tommy.  From what I've heard, Tommy was VERY receptive to coming to Arkansas.  Then idiocy via committee ruled the day and Nutt was hired coming off a 4-7 record at Boise State, his only season in FBS.  Hence, the talk ever since about Tommy moving to Arkansas.

IMO, aTm should fire Sherman the day after they play texass in November and hire Tommy to finish the recruiting class.  I'm not rooting for this to happen because then we won't be able to stomp them every year at Jerry World.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."
