Gus has been a HC, albeit in the High School ranks. A successful one, too. I think he would aspire to be a head coach in the college ranks one of these days.

Sometimes it is better to be the king maker than the king... maybe he likes being an offensive gee-nee-us and would rather sit around and draw up plays using a slide rule, three paper clips and his kid's leftover cheerios than have to deal with all the bureaucracy and bullshit a head coach faces.
