Auburn and Ames are two different places with different situations.

And they play on 2 different levels.
Can everyone agree with 2 statements?
Good, now lets take a legitimate look at what the difference is.
Auburn plays in the SEC west.
You have to be one of college footballs elites to be competitive in that sub conference of the strongest conference. You have to have to have a coach that can compete week in week out with the absolute best group of coaches on the planet.
In Ames Iowa you don't. You play in the big 12 North. A scrub conference arm composed of basically zero (0) powerhouses. Everyone is on the same level playing suckified playing field. Jacksonville State or UNA would not be outclassed by very much in the Big 12 North.
If you cannot coach wins in the big 12 north How in the holy hell do you hope to have a prayer in the SEC?
That is the bottom line comparison. A winner figures out a way to win no matter where he is forced to coach.
A loser waves his blueprint and blames the previous coaches and lack of talent.
On a side note I have a question. What kind of season would you expect Auburn to have if Tuberville was still in charge?

Greasy,

If Tubs had stayed, he'd have trotted another couple of coordinators in here with similar results. Recruiting would not have changed. Auburn might have been improved record-wise, but the underlying issues would still remain.

You are dead on in your assessment of ISU vs. AU.

I am already tired of trying to follow what Chizik says. I suppose we will know more Sept. 6.

OK so there are 2 losses for them in the scrub arm conference. They would still be worth more than 3 or 2 wins in a coupe of seasons there.
Question: In the last 2 seasons what SEC schools would have been the equivalent of Nebraska and Missouri? That is a weak argument to try and justify a man who couldn't coach up a team to a decent showing.

As I posted in an entirely different thread, to make an entirely different point...

Not as tough a schedule as Auburn (few in the country are), but solidly higher than uat.
