Benton is a 4* or 5* WR who committed to one of the top programs in the nation (National Champions) and who is a big, physical athlete at 6'3" and about 205. He's been working his ass off, came in to summer workouts and has gone through the fall, proving that he belongs in the rotation.
Why in the hell does that speak volumes about how bad our WR group is?
This is not the glass half full take when I say I think you're going to see that this unit is much better than people think. Guys like Terrell Zachary(Some people forget how good he was coming out of H.S) Darvin Adams and Benton are tall, fast receivers who are now finally getting some real coaching and most importantly...direction. Can you really look at that clusterfuck of an offense last year and be able to judge the WR's. Fucksake people...we had broke-wing Todd and Kodi throwing passes behind a line that couldn't block a pee-wee team..in an offense that fell apart prior to the season. How about the year before? Brandon Cox? Holy shit, he didn't throw a straight pass until the 10th game of the season. Can anyone say USF and MSU?
The system that's being run will produce good receivers and these guys will be able to show what they can do. I'll go ahead and say that if Chris Todd has his head even half way out of his ass, people are going to see that this group is one of the real strengths of this team.
