The point still stands. Lots of teams have a shitload of returning starters. Doesn't mean they will always be as good. Shit happens. UGA should have beat the living piss out of everybody last year. UF could have 2 returning starters, and still be in the MNC picture because of Tebow. Sometimes a few teams they are playing have improved. Half the team might catch a case of the I-don't-give-a-fuck one game. Maybe the game plan isn't as good this time around. Half of the team is hungover for one game. There is alot of shit that factors into how a season plays out. To say simply "well, they are returning alot of starters, they're going to be the shit" isn't always accurate. It isn't always inaccurate either.

I mean, whats the breakdown on it?

0-4 returning starters = shitty team
5-9 returning starters = mediocre team
10-14 returning starters = good team
15+ returning starters = world beaters

True. But I would argue that one of those factors is certainly how they performed last year. LaTech had one of their best years in their history.

Actually, the 8-3 and 9-2 seasons they had when they beat us are better than their 8-4 season in '08. And, for that matter, you don't know what their record will be at the end of '09. So, you don't know what team is weaker. However, I will agree with you that they shouldn't have beaten us either time. Again, just because they had a good season in '08 and they are returning alot of starters doesn't mean they will destroy all in '09. I think all you are aiming for is to build them up to be better than they really are. That way, if AU loses, well then you've been saying all this time they're unstoppable. If AU wins, then its a huge win and shows you guys got something going this season.

For the record, I haven't really seen on any boards where our fans are really making fun of you guys for playing La Tech in your opener. I just see some of them laughing at how real the chance is that you guys might lose to them.

If you're trying to prove that they aren't a cupcake in two weeks, you shouldn't really go back 12 years. 1999 was the last season this past decade, other than '08, that La Tech won 8 games or more. Almost half of the seasons in that span were 4-win or less seasons. La Tech is a shitty team. It reminds me of how shitty MSU ALABAMA has been the past 6 years. Shitty, shitty, then '08 is an 12-win season and MSU ALABAMA is supposedly a contender again. Then in '09, they will be "down". Fuck no they're not down, they simply returned to true form. When 4-8 is your second best season in 6 years, that means you're a shitty team. There is no "down" year. You might overachieve somehow one season, but that doesn't entitle you to "down" status when you return to form next season.
