GI Joe review

I will try to not pump this movie up too much because when a person does that, it can usually lead to expectations by others that can't be met. However, I will tell you that it is worth the price of admission and leave it at that. Instead I will tell you what I liked about it:

I am glad they did not try to make it a "realistic" movie. I can't stand it when people go to a fictional movie and come out of it criticizing it for not being realistic. I get enough realism every day and had enough of it in the past as a combat veteran, so I go to a movie like this to escape reality, not to remind me of it. So, instead of trying to make a more realistic GI Joe movie, they stayed true to the cartoon and comic with the futuristic military technology and the extraordinary fight/ battle scenes. The only difference was that unlike the cartoon, people actually did die in the movie. Instead of a bunch of fight scenes that last a few minutes each, with filler in between, the director decided to have just a few fight scenes that lasted longer then average, which makes you feel like it was non-stop action from beginning to end. I also liked the references and names thrown in for nostalgia purpose of characters that we will probably never see because there are just way too many to ever be able put in a movie.

My wife, who is not really a big action flick fan, even came out of there and surprised the heck out me by saying she loved it and it was the best action flick she has seen in a long time. Even though we both think Transformers 2 was okay, but not as good as the first one, GI Joe was much better then the Transformers sequel.

Oh yeah, Ray Park plays a freakin' awesome Snake Eyes. My only complaint is that the fight scenes between he and Storm Shadow happen so fast, you can't hardly tell what is going on sometimes.
