your thoughts on the season?

Personally, I thought we had a good season, while not what I had originally hoped for considering we had a Senior at QB. My hopes were for at least a 10 win season, but wins against UF for the second straight year and uat for the 6th make it hard to be that upset.  Also considering that the 4 teams we lost to played in bowl games and as of right now have a 2-1 record, with the remaining team playing for the title.

I think the addition of Coach Franklin, will bring some much needed excitement to the Auburn offense next season. As will having a new QB in the backfield. Best wishes go to all the Seniors the winningest class in Auburn history. I expect good things for this upcoming season...including on this new forum..WAR DAMN NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!!

I'm pleased with the season.  It was typical ups and downs throughout, but those two wins over UF and UAT were huge.  For next year, I'm most excited about our defense.  The score from the Chick-Fil-A bowl is somewhat misleading, but I was proud of the way they stepped up and stuffed the faux tigers when it was important (red zone and goal line stands, anyone?).  BOOM!  With Muschamp coming back, we are going be tops in defensive statistics next year, and that is going to win us games when you pair it with the spread we'll be running on offense.  Burns looked decent...he's got a cannon...he can double as a running back...I hope he spends his summer throwing at a inner tube, though...but we will hopefully develop his accuracy like we did Jason Campbell's.  I can't wait until the fall.

The two losses early on sucked the joy out of the great wins later on. The ass kicking of Biblical proportions that Georgia put on us wasn't fun.

Overall, I wish we had been 11-2, but I can live with the changes made at the end of the season.  While I am not convinced that Tony Franklin is the second coming, I am at least excited about the possibilities.

I expect improvement on the offensive side of the ball next season, which should translate into wins.

I am ready for basketball season!

Eh, it was about what I expected.  I was hoping for a 10-win season, and it was a play or two from being one.  I was worried when we started off 1-2 with losses to Miss State and South Florida, but we managed to win down the stretch (sans the UGA pantsing we received) in spite of our anemic offense.  I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say that we would have lost the bowl game if CTT hadn't made the change at OC.  I mean, we implement an entirely new offense in only 9-10 practices and we put up more yards than we have all season?  If that doesn't give you a rise in your Levi's when you think of next year, coupled with a 3rd season of Muscamp's defense, you need to check your pulse.  Or perhaps take a Viagra.

I was glad to see Cox go out a winner.  He's done a lot for Auburn, and he's been under a lot of scrutiny during his career.  That said, I'll be glad to see some fresh faces in at QB next year.  I think Kodi will get the nod as the starter, but wouldn't be surprised to see he and Todd swap in and out a lot next season.

Ditto on the Cox take.  Thanks for your contribution...but it's time to graduate and move on to other endeavors.  The youth situation is the most positive thing.  Serious talent in there for years to come.  I'm like Randall though, when it comes to Franklin.  I'm still taking a wait and see approach.  I think the guy will make some serious improvements in our overall productivity.  I think we got a taste of what guys like Fannin and Lester can really do when they consistently get the ball in open space and Franklin's offense should give that to us.

But, I keep hearing that this spread is the "New wave" the new "Trend" in college football.  That's cool for a while but I get the sneaky feeling defenses will catch up to it soon enough, there will be a new "Trend" and we'll be making another change in 3-4 years.  Oh well, nature of the business.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

I don't think Franklin is the second coming...However, anything is better than 101st in the Nation (besides of course 102nd) so I am excited to see what he can do. With regards to the spread, it is the hot thing right now, but I say go for it if it works. I'm sure in a couple of years we will be on to the next thing.  As long as Tubs gets the right man for the job at the time I'm happy, and it seems as though Franklin could be the right man...for now!

I am very happy with the outcome due to the growth for the future. We made tremendous strides on the o-line compared to last year, and started 3 freshman! Bring on 08!!

While it's still going to take much more to convince me that the spread is right for Auburn, they did have their highest offensive output of the year against possibly the toughest D they played all year.  Combine that with Muschamp's BMF Defense and it could be a good year.
I do agree though that the O will be lead by Todd and Burns next year.
I see another Daniel Cobb - Jason Campbell offense coming.  Hopefully more productive this time around.
