If that was your ass he had his dick forcibly in at any time, I think you might beg the differ. Does it matter that his 14 yr old cousin routinely likes it in the ass now. I mean, I guess she grew up too.
I think what townhall was saying is that it's a complex issue with no clearcut "right" answer. And I agree.
There's no doubt that what he did as a 13 year old kid was detestable. All I'm saying is, everyone has done things when they were around 13 years old that you as an adult look back on and are ashamed of, and wonder why you would ever do such a thing. Granted, not likely something as severe as this, but the point remains. Especially under the pressure of an older kid like the 17 year old in this case. He probably felt wrong even at the time, but was trying to be cool for the 17 year old. Again, not that this is condoning this in any way, but that is the mindset of a 13 year old.
I know this will start a firestorm, but it's crazy to me how the same people will pick an obscure verse in the Bible to justify treating black people, or gay people, or women as second class citizens, yet ignore a basic overarching tenent like forgiveness and redemption.
Not that in this particular case I'm saying he 100% deserves redemption. I just think that he served his time under the law, so it's not Lane Kiffin's place to punish him more. That said, I think it was a dumb move on Tennessee's part to take him. Other schools like LSU and Auburn, and even Fulmer before he was let go, were interested in this kid and then backed off once this stuff came to light, and for good reason in my opinion. Tennessee doesn't exactly have a reputation for its upstanding fine young men. I'm certainly glad Auburn passed on him.
As you can see in this post alone, I can't settle on an opinion on this. That's what townhall was saying, and I agree.
