The ONE has some problems closing Gitmo
« on: May 05, 2009, 11:05:34 AM »
In his attempt to keep his campaign promise to the foaming-at-the-mouth leftists, The ONE has run into some trouble from his own party in his plan to close Gitmo...namely the House Appropriations Chairman David Obey (D-WI) has denied funds to 'relocate' the Gitmo detainees due to the lack of a plan to do so from The ONE.

I think that the Democrats godless socialists are simply using this as a convenient excuse as most of them don't want to vote on bringing the Gitmo detainees terrorists to any of their own districts for holding (prior to The ONE extending them full constitutional rights).  As yet, there seems to be no word from Speaker Pelosi on this issue.  I wonder why?

Anyway, here's an excerpt from National Journal, all emphasis is my own:

Obey Rejects Obama's Request For Funds To Shutter Guantanamo Detention Center

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

House Appropriations Chairman David Obey dealt a blow to President Obama Monday by rejecting his request for funding in the FY09 supplemental spending bill to shut down the military's Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, detention center by early next year.

The White House requested $80 million in the FY09 war supplemental to begin moving 240 detainees out of Cuba, but Obey said Monday he stripped the funding from his bill because the administration has not presented a plan to close the facility.

"I personally favor what the administration's talking about doing, but so far as we can tell there is yet no concrete program for that," Obey said ahead of his panel's markup of the $94.2 billion supplemental Thursday. "And while I don't mind defending a concrete program, I'm not much interested in wasting my energy defending a theoretical program."

In another split with the White House, Obey expressed serious doubt that Obama's plans for Afghanistan and Pakistan will bring security to the region. Obey said he would give the administration a year to prove him wrong -- as he said he did on the Vietnam War at the outset of the Nixon administration.

DoD can just reprogram funds within an appropriation during the budget year in order to park these terrorists somewhere.

Just because the Appropriations Committe raises hell doesn't mean it won't happen. The Approp Cmte can fund the DoD appropriation for this action, which they won't do until they see the authorization from the HASC and SASC.
Until the Obamanites work with DoD to come up with a viable plan for this action which they will have to sell to the The House Armed Services Committee (HASC) and the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC), they shouldn't get a dime.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

I still favor an accidental fire that kills every single one of them.  Then, we can safely close the detainee camp and not worry about it anymore.

About a year ago I saw the solicitation for bids for a new 'confinement' facility at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. It was like an 80 million dollar project. Those fuckers will be sent back to Afghanistan to stay in this new facility until the civilized world (the Germans and Dems) forget that they exist. Then they will be buried at the end of the runway in an unmarked grave. All new 'detainees' or 'persons under confinement' being picked up in SW Asia will be sent to Afghanistan. IMHO.

So all these journalists that have been uncovering 'dirt' on GITMO while down in sunny Cuba. Think about it, white sand beaches of Cuba 90 miles from Miami or Afganistan, where would you like to work on a temp assignment? They won't be happy when they have to take a three day journey just to get to Bagram. Then they will get off the plane in 3 feet of snow or sandstorm then have to sleep in a plywood shack while at Bagram. They won't give a damn about some hadjees in an air-conditioned/heated facility. They will quickly come to the realization that Afghanistan has been a battlefield for the past 25 years and the CIA/Army/Marines picked this trash up on the battlefield for the good of civilization.
