Actually stewie you are acting like a bammer. They are the only ones who think that the whole clown car fiasco is a good thing for Auburn. Well prowler thinks so too but he doesn't get out of mommy's basement much.
Again, for the reading impaired....It's not just about the Stretch, it's about 3/4 of the Coaching Staff to visit the school of one or two prospects.  The Limo idea is done to create the "Buzz".  From what I'm seeing, most of the prospects at the schools, that Auburn is going to, heard that the Coaches arrived in a Stretch Limo, from other students.  Hell, at one school, Admin. people, some teachers, Coaches and the Principle came out to greet the Coaches as they stepped out, so that they could all get their pictures taken....that's called "Buzz".  It's no different than what Coach Midget did two years ago while he was in the Mobile area to recruit a certain prospect (RV with police escort).  Auburn's just doing it with more style and they aren't using past All-Pro players to create the "Buzz".  Also, greaseybammer, if there are bammers that think that the "Tiger Prowl(er)" is a good thing for Auburn, then they would be correct.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

A gimmick? Do you even know what the definition of a gimmick is?  A gimmick, would be playing players actual fucking money in red elephants so that they would want to come play at your school.  Showing up in a limousine, while it may be cheesy, is not a gimmick.  Fuck my life...
Not to be counter-argumentative here, but I'm not sure you really know what the definition of a gimmick is.
Quote
In marketing language, a gimmick is a unique or quirky special feature that makes something "stand out" from its contemporaries. However, the special feature is typically thought to be of little relevance or use. Thus, a gimmick is a special feature for the sake of having a special feature.
That being said, I don't think this is overtly gimmicky, as the limousine served the purpose of getting seven coaches to show up together in the same vehicle, yet with class. How the hell a stretch limousine is being called a "clown car", I'm not too clear on. If seven coaches showed up together in a VW bug, I'd understand. That was the purpose of the limo. That was the purpose of the matching shirts. It was about unity, the Auburn family, the many functioning as one. I got it. The recruits got it. No one gives a fuck if the bammers or the crowd desperate for Chizik to fail get it. They never will.

I seriously don't get it. It's funny cause they're a coaching staff wearing matching Auburn shirts? This is a bad thing how?

It's funny because it's a piece of shit white limo that looks like my high school cousin got his friends together to ride up to teh Plains for a little football game, complete with stickers and flags.  I'd expect better from a Athletic Department that has the funds to put our coaches up in something a little more respectable.  Even a black one would've looked better...stretch Escalade, Hummer, etc. would've been BAD ASS.

The matching shirts, "The Point" as Prowler puts it, the "Buzz", etc., is all good, baby.  Auburn is getting noticed in ways that they haven't before, and this is a good thing, and I've already stated that I'd STFU if these trips serve their purpose.

But you have the orange and blue blinders on if you don't think it's a gimmick, because it is.

The limo is the unique and quirky feature.  It is of little relevance or use because the relationships the coaches establish and build on with the recruits until February is the foundation of getting who we want signed.  The limo is just the beginning of this, the tip of the iceberg.  The limo serves as a attention-grabber only, but our coaches know that.  But it's a fucking gimmick nonetheless...big deal.

The only thing I can do is sit back and see how effective this is, and that's what I'm going to do, but not without a chortle.

So is it over the top, or is it not over the top enough? Making a huge deal about the color of the limo? Seriously? Because if it were black it would make a huge difference? Maybe if it were a 2009 instead of a 2007? (I heard that complaint too) The recruits aren't laughing, so that's all that matters. Ask them if they give a shit if the limo was black or white.

“They really surprised me. I was shocked to see all of them in there. It makes you feel special, especially when they do it in front of the whole school. That’s a good idea right there. It’s sharp when they hop out of there with all their orange on. They really seem like they know what they’re doing. They’ve got some good coaches up there. I like a lot about them.”
- Williamson HS LB Barry James

“I like their swagger. I really liked when they came in the weight room and there was a whole gang of coaches all in Auburn gear. Everybody was just amazed at all the coaches that were there. It made me realize how serious they are about football recruiting for them to bring so many coaches to one school. It makes a real big impression. It makes me feel like they are really serious about getting their recruiting class together.”
- Davidson HS DT Pat McNeil

“Everything was great. I thought it was a good showing that all of the coaches came down. They were all in the limo, dressed in their Auburn shirts and everything. It went good. All of the students and teachers were real impressed with the coaches when they came in. It was a good thing the Auburn coaches did that. I think it grabbed some of the kids’ attention. Just the coaches coming down and showing that family atmosphere, showing that they care, caught the kids’ attention. I bet they had a warm reception wherever they went. It was great. A lot of kids were impressed.”
- Blount HS Head Coach Kelvin Sigler

I was saying that by definition, it is somewhat gimmicky. I was correcting AWK on his interpretation of the term. I don't, however, think that it was entirely a gimmick, because as I explained, it served its purpose.

Not over the top enough.  As soon as they decided to ride together in a limo, it was over the top to some extent.  Why pick the shittiest, worst looking kind of limo to do this in?  Poll the people, and they will agree...if we are deciding on doing this, it should've been done in the best way possible, by making the biggest impact.  When you're taking your latest piece of ass on yall's first date, do you go to Ruth's Chris...or the Western Sizzler?  And when you're home afterwards enjoying some foreplay, do you pull out the flavored condom from the gas station, or the Trojan Magnum?  A white limo has a moderate impact, at best.  Sure, the students in the schools are reacting, but we will never know how much bigger an impact they could've made by simply upgrading their ride.

I'm only making a big deal of the appearance of the ride, not the purpose.  And it's great to hear all the positive press that is already being spun around this.  But don't think that for every recruit ya'll quote on here that is impressed...that there's another recruit/coach that is laughing.  There's two sides to the story here, but it's my hope that the benefits outweigh the costs.

Show me more...show me more...I want every single positive quote that's been made about this.  I want everything that's been said by the coaches and players since yesterday.  Don't act like we wouldn't like to get our hands on those for more positive press!    :eyeroll:

C'mon dude...you're not that naive.  What's said in negative light about this (by those affiliated with high school) would be negative towards recruiting and the future of the very players that the coaches want to succeed.  It would not behoove them or their livelihood for such comments to surface.  That's doesn't mean they are not being made, however.

This is the one single post that best sums up the positive press and warm reception that chizik has manged to get since his hire.
No one wants to piss off Auburn and ruin their chances for sending players or getting interviews when we hire a legitimate coach.

What some people are missing is.....The Point.  Most people are just looking at the Limo and saying..Tacky, Stupid, Retarded...etc.  Auburn wanted to recruit the State, together.  BTW, a Stretch Limo is going to get people's attention, especially one that has Auburn Stickers and Flags all over it, no matter what model it is.  Not only is Auburn doing something inventive, it's actually extremely smart.  You don't just have One Coach, that's a decent to great recruiter, going into the schools, you have SEVEN Coaches, that are really good to great recruiters going into the school and making a Splash when they arrive.  When I was 18 yrs old, being recruited by a couple of Universities, if one of those Universities came to my HS in a Stretch with nearly their Entire Coaching Staff (read: Full Court Press), all wearing the same AU Orange button-up shirt (it shows up better when you look into the stands, while you're practicing), that would let me know that these coaches really want me and they're recruiting me harder than anyone else.  Shitbammer, I wouldn't be too sure about that...these coaches are coming up with new ideas every week, it seems.  So, a "Big Swingin' Dick Mobile", probably wouldn't be out of the question.  I mean, you already have the Oscar Meyer Weiner Mobile, so....that's a start.  All you'd have to do is turn it into a Stretch Limo and paint the Weiner to look like a Dick....Wa La.

I was about to post the same thing.

How many of you were EVER recruited by a major university while in high school? I got stuck with James Daniels. That told me I was low on their list. BUT if that group showed up at my high school to see me, DAMN. There is no way any other school could beat that. So if you have never been in that situation, then ignorantly laugh all you want. Recruits don't really give shit what you say, they only care how important they "feel" they are to the coaches.

No matter what this looks like to us, this is a home run to the recruits.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
