Liberals totally support gay marriage, risqué art, pornography as art, scantly clad women, sex outside of marriage, etc. They also think we should be more open to the terrorists and try to talk to them instead of kill them.

You're exactly right about the need for conservatives to become much more activist when it comes to issues like this; complaining on message boards is all well and good but sometimes you've got to take to the streets and be as vocal as the opposition. Conservatives have no need to be ashamed of being against gay marriage or of the traditional religious nature of that joining.

Even in liberal California they have taken a stand against gay marriage by the popular vote of the people of that state (Proposition 8, I think). Yet the gay mafia (the activist LGTB crowd) sound like they have a louder public voice on this issue (with the help of their MSM friends) of course denouncing the traditional marriage crowd as being prejudiced and bigoted. The fact of the matter is that traditional marriage is rooted in biblical principles and symbolic of the marriage of Christ and His church. I will not apologize for that view of marriage; that is what MY religion (and ANY Christian religion) teaches.

And civil unions provide for practically the same contractual-like obligations between a couple as the 'civil' parts of a marriage with the exception that the surviving 'partner' does not receive the social security payment of a deceased partner if it is larger than their own. There's no discrimination there (other than what I just mentioned to my knowledge) as the gay mafia claims...they simply want to co-opt what up to now has been a religious-based ceremony and term.

They're crucifying this woman for having the same views as more than half of her State. That would be millions upon millions of people. Not some little right or left wing extremist hate group. For me, it's not so much a matter of who is right or wrong. I have my own views and admittedly, I probably do more fence straddling than anything else on the subject. But, that's not the point. Being totally and completely intolerant of someone else's views, especially when stated in such a non-threatening manner on a stage like that, just grinds my nads.

Sorry for my rant on the larger issue here. I didn't miss your point. And some fence-sitting might be in order until FedGov speaks out on a consistent definition of what civil marriage is and what it is not; what contractual obligations apply and what do not. Until then the states will do their own things.

Anyway, about this particular young woman (Ms. California), as I mentioned in an earlier post on this topic it is all-too-familiar this day and age that someone who expresses a Christian-based opinion (like Ms. California) gets vilified and demonized for being prejudiced and intolerant when in fact it's the gay mafia who are intolerant of the traditional view of marriage held by hundreds of millions of people in this country including the larger majority of the state she represents.

Her very humble, tolerant, and honest opinion should be appreciated and lauded; it grinds my gears too that she's treated like a pariah.

100% my thoughts on the subject. I too "straddle the fence" on the technicalities of it all, although for the most part as most of you know I'm a live-and-let-live kind of guy, so I tend to have most of my body weight on the opposite side of the fence as Ms. California's opinion. Doesn't mean she doesn't have every right to state her opinion, especially in the unoffensive manner that she did.
