Fed Gov Warns of those Extremist Right-wingers!
« on: April 15, 2009, 01:07:53 PM »
I alluded to this news under the "Happy fucking" thread but thought that I'd post the article here in a new topic especially after receiving a particularly pithy comment on Twitter from Newt Gingrich's organization about this same story regarding those evil conservative activists:

Quote
Amazingly white house spokesman used terrorism to describe worrying about americans but the word has been banned for describing foreigners

Personally I find Fed Gov's timing on this report to be suspicious especially with the TEA Parties going on nationwide today.  And on the surface it seems to focus on groups associated with white supremacist ilk but when you read the definition of 'right-wing extremists' I'm sure that folk like myself may be included based on the issues they use especially immigration.  The ONE says that this is not a political document.  Another suspicious comment.  And there's no surprise to find out later in the article that Morris Dees (SPLC) is also involved with this report.  Madness!

Anyway, here is an excerpt of the news item from The Washington Times (via Drudge):

Federal agency warns of radicals on right

9-page report sent to police

By Audrey Hudson
Tuesday, April 14, 2009

The Department of Homeland Security is warning law enforcement officials about a rise in "rightwing extremist activity," saying the economic recession, the election of America's first black president and the return of a few disgruntled war veterans could swell the ranks of white-power militias.

A footnote attached to the report by the Homeland Security Office of Intelligence and Analysis defines "rightwing extremism in the United States" as including not just racist or hate groups, but also groups that reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority.

"It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single-issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration," the warning says.

The White House has distanced itself from the analysis. When asked for comment on its contents, White House spokesman Nick Shapiro said, "The President is focused not on politics but rather taking the steps necessary to protect all Americans from the threat of violence and terrorism regardless of its origins. He also believes those who serve represent the best of this country, and he will continue to ensure that our veterans receive the respect and benefits they have earned."

The nine-page document was sent to police and sheriff's departments across the United States on April 7 under the headline, "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment."

It says the federal government "will be working with its state and local partners over the next several months" to gather information on "rightwing extremist activity in the United States."

The joint federal-state activities will have "a particular emphasis" on the causes of "rightwing extremist radicalization."

Homeland Security spokeswoman Sara Kuban said the report is one in an ongoing series of assessments by the department to "facilitate a greater understanding of the phenomenon of violent radicalization in the U.S."

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

The report in question specifically uses the term 'terrorist' or 'terrorism' when referring to possible/potential domestic activities as I understood it.

Ms. Napolitano (DHS Secretary, The ONE's Administration) is on a mission to re-brand worldwide terrorism, from Der Speigel:

Quote
...
INTERVIEW WITH HOMELAND SECURITY SECRETARY JANET NAPOLITANO
'Away From the Politics of Fear'
[3/16/2009]

Janet Napolitano, 51, is President Obama's new Homeland Security Secretary. She spoke with SPIEGEL about immigration, the continued threat of terrorism and the changing tone in Washington.

SPIEGEL: Madame Secretary, in your first testimony to the US Congress as Homeland Security Secretary you never mentioned the word "terrorism." Does Islamist terrorism suddenly no longer pose a threat to your country?

Napolitano: Of course it does. I presume there is always a threat from terrorism. In my speech, although I did not use the word "terrorism," I referred to "man-caused" disasters. That is perhaps only a nuance, but it demonstrates that we want to move away from the politics of fear toward a policy of being prepared for all risks that can occur.

Hmmm, sounds a little like communism to me.  You know the part where they don't want you to speak out against your overlords who are now in power or do something to move the people to vote them out.

Someone needs to make a t-shirt:

PROUD RIGHT WING EXTREMIST!  With a picture of a gun and a Bible and the US Flag.

Maybe even the Flag of Texas - for once, our Himbo Barbie doll of a governor has done something right - he signed that resolution saying that the feds needed to back the fuck off of states rights and respect the 10th Amendment

I'd buy one for every member of my extended family.  Hell, I'd give them as Christmas gifts.

If political dissent is patriotic, as our Vice President stated not too long ago; why is it that this very thing is so concerning to our government now?

We're just a hop, skip, and jump away from armed goons hauling people away in the dead of night.

I received an alarmist email from Townhall.com just this morning to that effect but I'm reluctant to post anything about it mainly because I question the veracity of the claims (and it's rather lengthy).  I may post it later today anyway with appropriate caveats.
