More News on teh Stimulus Bill

I was a little concerned that there might be some defections of potential RINOs in the House of Representatives to support The ONE's (and Pelosi's...and Reid's) so-called Economic Stimulus Bill.

The bad news is that the new bill passed the House.  The good news is not one Republican voted for it...in fact seven Democrats voted against it with the Republicans.  The opposition was bi-partisan.  And as I've opined before I'm pleased that the House Republicans had the chutzpah to stand together against this monstrosity.

But the damn thing still passed and it will pass the Senate with the votes of three RINOs there!

I am worried about what the hell we're committed to as a nation; based on what Rep. John Boehner (R-OH), the House Minority leader said, not one person in the House as read the damn thing; so what the hell happened to transparency in government promised by The ONE, Pelosi, and Reid?

Here's John Boehner (34 seconds):

Oh, but The ONE will tell you that this bill is supposed to save or create 3.5 million jobs.  Well, I supposed if only 3.5 million people are working to support FedGov then, I guess, the Stimulus Package worked.   Interesting verbal acrobatics on the part of The ONE; making it impossible to determine if the Plan worked or not but easy to place the blame elsewhere. The al-AP press writer calls this passage a 'big win' for The ONE's administration.  It's a big win alright...a Pyrrhic win for America.

Here's an excerpt from Breitbart.com, all emphasis is my own:

House OKs $787B stimulus bill with GOP opposition

Feb 13 04:05 PM US/Eastern
By ANDREW TAYLOR

WASHINGTON (AP) - Handing the new administration a big win, House Democrats passed President Barack Obama's $787 billion plan to resuscitate the economy on Friday despite a wall of Republican opposition. The bill was approved 246-183 and sent to the Senate, where a vote was scheduled late Friday afternoon.

That vote was to be held open for hours, waiting for Ohio Democrat Sherrod Brown, who was attending a memorial service for his mother and then flying back to cast the deciding vote.

Senate passage would meet a deadline of sending the bill to Obama before a congressional recess begins next week.

The 1,071 page, 8-inch-thick measure combines $281 billion in tax cuts for individuals and businesses with more than a half-trillion dollars in government spending. The money would go for infrastructure, health care and help for cash-starved state governments, among scores of programs. Seniors would get a $250 bonus Social Security check.

Told that no Republican backed the measure, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs reacted by citing another number: "3.5 million jobs that we look forward to saving or creating."

Seven Democrats voted against the bill.

Republicans said the package won't work because it has too little in tax cuts and spreads too much money around to everyday projects like computer upgrades for federal agencies.

"This legislation falls woefully short," said House GOP Leader John Boehner of Ohio. "With a price tag of more than $1 trillion when you factor in interest, it costs every family almost $10,000 in added debt. This is an act of generational theft that our children and grandchildren will be paying for far into the future."

The evil and insidious Karl Rove just pointed out on 'The Hugh Hewitt Show' how ironic it is that the House passed a trillion dollar 'stimulus bill' on Friday the 13th that provides tax cuts in the amount of $13.00 a week for people with NO federal income tax liability!

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

That is a good thing in a way, I figured that there would be some RHINO's in the HOR that would vote for this  porkulus bill.  I actually applaud the Democrats that voted against it.  I will raise a toast to them for it.  The three RHINO's make me sick.  I think we get to look forward to what the Japanese went through with the "lost decade".  It will take us years to pay this shit back, if we do.  The more I think about it, the more I realize that you were right.  If a few of us "ole salty cons" on this board were in charge of things this country would be a lot better off for it.

We are screwed that is for sure.  I am amazed that some still believe that we can spend our way out of debt, but that is what I have come to expect with what we have sent up there.  Well, for the most part.
