Trooper Taylor coming with Curtis Luper?
« on: January 03, 2009, 12:30:30 AM »
I've been told that some Ok State websites are saying that it is pretty much a done deal that he is...and that they were saying Coach Luper was coming to Auburn before anyone else was.

We should know more in the next day or so.

After announcing the hire of one former Oklahoma State assistant Friday, Auburn head coach Gene Chizik is hoping to add another Cowboy to his staff.

Taylor is regarded as one of the nation's best recruiters.
AuburnSports.com has confirmed that Chizik is in discussions with OSU co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Trooper Taylor.

Taylor has SEC experience, coaching four years at Tennessee from 2004-07 before joining OSU in 2008. Taylor coached running backs for the Vols for two seasons before switching to wide receivers for 2006-07.

Taylor is also known as one of the nation's top recruiters being named by Rivals.com as a Top 25 recruiter in both 2005 and 2007. He was an integral part of Tennessee signing the nation's No. 4 class in 2005 and No. 3 class in '07.

Taylor played defensive back at Baylor from 1988-91 and finished his playing career as the school's leader in kickoff returns (53) and return yardage (1,063). He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Baylor in 1992 and moved into a full-time role in 1994. He coached receivers at Baylor in 1994 and 97 and the secondary in 95-96.

Taylor's coaching career also included a stop as a running backs coach at New Mexico in 1998 and wide receivers coach at Tulane from 1999-2003.

Auburn announced the hiring of former OSU assistant Curtis Luper as running backs coach Friday. He is the third assistant coach to be officially announced by Chizik.
