Meadville (Miss.) Franklin County ATH Jamie Collins is no longer committed to Auburn.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder, who first gave the Tigers his pledge in July, said he's now considering other schools.

"I'm decommitting from Auburn," said Collins. "I'm going to open things up and see what happens."

Collins has scheduled an official visit to Southern Miss for Jan. 16-18.

Fort Meade (Md.) Meade four-star quarterback Raymond Cotton is still committed to Auburn, but according to his father, Raymond Cotton, Sr., that could change soon.

Cotton, Sr. said Sunday, a day after Auburn announced Gene Chizik as Tommy Tuberville's replacement, that his son was now seriously reconsidering his Tiger pledge.

Cotton already has visits set up to Ole Miss and Southern Miss and is also looking at Florida and Arkansas among others.

According to Cotton, Sr., the announcement of Chizik as the new head coach wasn't what he and his son were expecting.

"We were shocked," said Cotton, Sr. "Raymond wasn't real happy with the decision they made. We thought about it all last night and talked about it again this morning. As a parent, my comment is Auburn did nothing to prove to me they want to be a winner."  (wow...thanks jj...)

Chizik was hired away from Iowa State by Auburn after posting a 5-19 record over the last two seasons, his first and only two as a head coach. His previous two jobs were at Texas (2005-06) and Auburn (2002-04) as defensive coordinator. He won a national championship while at Texas in '05 and was part of the Tigers' undefeated season in '04.

Still, Cotton, Sr. said, he has his concerns.

"I know about Chizik's good background with Auburn, but I look at Auburn as being on the same level with the Floridas and Georgias, a top 10 school in the country. It's a big-time program," said Cotton, Sr. "And then we go out and hire a guy that has five wins over the last couple of years. That definitely brings some concern. I don't know if there is a lot of confidence there from me as a father. HOLY SHIT...

"We did a lot of research. We did a lot of talking to people. But we just couldn't come up with anything that really stood out to us."

Cotton, Sr. said the hiring of Chizik isn't the only concern his son has with his Auburn commitment. Following Tuberville's resignation on Dec. 3, they waited for a call that never came.

"When Tuberville first stepped down Raymond was looking for that phone call. He was looking for a phone call that said 'Hey, I'm stepping down for whatever reason'," said Cotton, Sr. "He never got that phone call from Tuberville. But Raymond was looking at his buddies over there in Starkville, (MSU QB commit) Tyler Russell and those guys. When (former MSU head coach) Sly Croome stepped down, Sly Croome called all of his class. He called all of those guys and said he was stepping down for this reason, but if they ever needed him… But Raymond never got that call from Tuberville and that's when he began to say 'What's going on at Auburn?'

"Whoever is making decisions at Auburn, there seems like there is no organization, no structure, no consistency whatsoever down there. There is a lot of concern there." WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW

Since Tuberville's resignation, Auburn has lost six commitments from its '09 class. Four-star running back Rodney Scott, one of the former commitments, gave his pledge to Ole Miss Sunday. Marietta (Ga.) Lassiter four-star tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen remains committed to the Tigers, but is also considering other schools.

Cotton, Sr., said the three stay in contact.

"He's been talking to those guys. He's been in touch with them, but at the end of the day he knows it has to be his decision," said Cotton, Sr. "At this point, he's not feeling real good about his Auburn decision.
