Further evidence that post-season awards are garbage
« on: December 12, 2008, 10:36:29 AM »
The week a second-team freshman receiver was named Freshman of the Year -- when a freshman beat him out for first team -- Andre Smith was named the Outland Trophy winner.

What a fucking farce.

That fat bastard couldn't even get into a stance in the fourth quarter against Florida.

He's not even the best offensive lineman on his own team.

I also noticed the Outland Trophy winner and had to grin.

While I'm not a scout of OL talent across the nation, I am willing to bet he will not be the first lineman taken in the draft.

These awards are 90% hype and 10% reality.  People vote for a name they've heard before.

like i said before, no matter who from Alabama is awarded something, you will bitch. its what you do, and its all you know. why is it that NFL scouts project him as a top 5 pick? you better go tell them that you and JohnDeere know so much more than them. so, who is the best offensive lineman on our team? and why?

Any of the ones who weren't so out of shape they couldn't get into their stance in the fourth quarter of the only meaningful game Alabama's played in the last 20 years. Your pick.

Well, let's start with the kid from Ole Miss.  You know, the guy SEC Coaches -- who would know better than anybody -- picked as lineman of the year.  When the people you play against pick SOMEBODY ELSE other than some fat ass Alabama player who can't get into his stance because he's so out of shape in the fourth quarter of a meaningful game, then you should take the word of those people. They're the ones who saw him play week in and week out, the ones who watched film to prepare to play against him, the ones who saw him live.  And they picked another player as the best lineman.

Hell, Saban said it himself:

"There are a lot more guys who get the reputation than who actually live up to the billing," Saban said.

He might as well have drawn bright pink circles around Smith's candy ass when he said it.

please show me where he "couldn't even get in his stance" in the 4th quarter. i was watching the game, and didn't really notice a problem. or is this like one of those mythical "he was holding every snap" type things? i didn't notice them pulling him out of the game, so apparently he was able to get in his stance. how many sacks did he give up in the UF game again? certainly AU's tremendous DL got a sack or two against him.....right? how many sacks has he allowed this season? bottom line is, no matter who it is and what award is given, you will bitch and whine if its an Alabama player. maybe they should have given it to Lee "Hey guys, whats the snap count again?" Ziemba, since maybe he meets your weight requirements. you can't deal with the fact that Smith is arguably one of the best OL in the country. if he was on any other team, sure, it would be possible. but since he plays for Alabama, he is the most horrible OL ever. since it is obvious to you that he is so horrible, why is he projected so highly in the draft? Terrence Cody is a pretty big guy and seems to get the job done. so why, at 6'4" 330 is Andre Smith just so out of shape and cannot get the job done?

You're goofy. And overly dramatic.  Was it your turn to ride Andre like a pony at the mall yesterday or something.

First I never said anything about his holding. He only does it about every other snap, but that's not the point here.

Go back and watch the film yourself, bobo.  I don't care to watch it again, even though I get tickled as hell at the pissy Saban expressions.  In the fourth quarter, your entire OL is in a three point stance except for fat ass Andre, who's in a two. Because he can't get down there.  He's too tired.

Terrance Cody is a ridiculous fat ass who does nothing. He's the equivalent of putting a 500-lb dude in a hockey goal.  One of the most overrated tubs of goo ever. Famous because he's fat. Period.

I didn't say that your homosexual lover was the worst offensive lineman ever. I said he didn't deserve to win the Outland Trophy and that his win turned it into a farce.  SEC coaches -- again, the people who should KNOW -- picked somebody else as SEC offensive lineman of the year.  Doesn't that TELL you something?  If he's not the best in the SEC, how the honking purple fuck is he the best in the country? Doesn't make sense except to you.

Anyone with half a brain can understand that if you are not your conference lineman of the year then you damn sure aren't the best in the country, but.....Not to the bama tards, they think that they deserve every title, every award and at every position.  They are unrealistic when it comes to their team. Stafford, Bradford, Tebow......shit, not even near as good as JPW, hell when JPW gets in the NFL he will eclipse Farve, Montana, Manning, Brady and be the best QB ever.  Coffee and Ingram, hell, they will have better stats than Sweetness, Jim Brown, Emmit Smith and Barry Sanders all combined. Julio, better than Jerry Rice was in his prime right now as a freshman. That is the way these tards think.  I am willing to give credit where credit is due.  Bama had a good team this year, they have some good players, but for the love god, you would think this was the greatest team of all time to hear them talk about it and every player on their team was the best at their position hands down.

wow, you're a dumbass. the tackles normally go to a two-point in pass-pro. i guess two minutes into the game Smith was so tired he couldn't get into his stance either, since he was in the same stance then. on a run play they show a three-point and crash the line. sometimes Smith shows a two-point on a run if its going to the other side, depending on the play call and formation (possible play-action, etc)

Terrance Cody is a ridiculous fat ass who does nothing. He's the equivalent of putting a 500-lb dude in a hockey goal.  One of the most overrated tubs of goo ever. Famous because he's fat. Period.
then Kodi Burns must be REALLY shitty since he let that "ridiculous fat ass" sack him AND recover one of his fumbles. i bet his fatass really knocked the wind out of Burns when he landed on top of him. but hey, if that "overrated tub of goo" is helping our defense to a #4 ranking in rushing defense and #3 ranking in total defense, i'm cool with that.

do you really want to go back and look at the list of Outland Trophy Award winners? i only had to go back to 2006 to find an OL that didn't get "best in conference" but won the Outland. please, lets hear you and Kaos bitch and moan and suck each other off to come up with reasons why Joe Thomas shouldn't have won it in 06 and who should have actually won it.

so, do you want to discuss the facts that i've put forward or not? i don't care if he agrees or not, its just the point to show him that an OL winning the Outland Trophy that isn't named "best blocker" in his conference isn't unheard of, and the only reason he even gives a shit is because its about Alabama. i didn't see him having a kitten in 2006 when the guy from Wisconsin won it. he has no real point, just "he's a fatass who since i don't know shit about football i will say can't get into his stance, and he didn't win best blocker in the SEC." i would hate to be such a miserable person that i go through life bitching, whining, and moaning about every little fucking thing in life even something as insignificant as some guy getting a college football award. apparently you have forgotten the pages and pages and pages and pages and pages of bullshit you have spewed over the past few years over something you know the other side isn't ever going to agree to, but you're too much of a dick to leave it be. and thats fine too, as long as you know you're a dick.

No, I don't GIVE a shit what you're talking about.  You misunderstand.  You are retarded because you can't understand the absurdity of a player who is not the best at his position in his conference being selected best at that position in the nation.  You're retarded because you can't understand the ridiculousness of a second-team freshman being named freshman of the year over a first team freshman at the same position.  Simply put, you're retarded and all the ranting and foaming at the mouth you're doing is only making me laugh.

he won the Outland in 06 and wasn't selected as best lineman in his conference. so since its such a travesty, lets hear why he shouldn't have won it in 06 and who should have won it in 06. but i can gather that since he didn't play for Alabama, you don't really give a shit. only if an Alabama player wins something, THEN is it total bullshit and theres a problem. i didn't see you pitching a fit in 06. if you go down the list you will probably find even more than have won the Outland but wasn't best lineman in his conference, so its not like there is some precedence that sets that as a prerequisite. like you and i, apparently the SEC and the people who award the Outland have differing opinions.
